I got a thodo, some sort of a vehicle on my birthday...
This is my first story, so please do not put me down...but of course, I welcome insightful comments and some useful critiques and suggestions.Thankyou.

Ever had something special? I have. And the whole world besides me and my other three friends do not have it. It all started last Tuesday. Before I get you on to why things changed so badly, let me fill you up with my life starting last Monday.

Heros

As usual, I got up from the bed. The air was cool and it was a holiday. Feeling refreshed after washing my face, I moved downstairs slowly and quietly. Hee hee, dad’s gonna have a fright of his life. I crept behind dad. Someone once told me I was so creepy and so awesome in creeping around too. Then from all around my dad’s chair came a “Boo!” then an “Eeek! Oh, it is you” AND FINALLY, laughing.

“Which useless thing is bothering me? Which useless thing is bothering…” my phone rang. I slowly picked it up, I mean, after all, it should be useless. I guess I was wrong. It was Dungeon. His real name is ‘Dandeon’ but everyone just calls him Dungeon. “Hi, Dandeon.”I exclaimed. What I heard was a croaky sound. “Heyi Anna, I ama down with a sorree throa.” “What?” I heard him clear his throat. “Sore throat.”

“I am having a p…pa…party tomorrow. Can you k…k…come?” “Sure!” “Havvee…You asked…” “I know what you are trying to say.I am sure my parents will allow me. I will check later.”

On Tuesday, six in the morning, I left a note for my parents and from there I went. I reached at about six thirty. There was no one there so I walked around. It looked fit for a…a… canteen. A dirty and humongous one.

There were tables everywhere. Not like the ones in any canteen, but rather like our work desk in school. All the lights were off except a gloomy light on a desk. I slowly edged towards it, slowly and carefully. Creepy.

Out of the blue, thousands of different lanterns startled me. I would have said to anyone that I saw Dandeon.”I read the message: “Dear Mrs. Tan,

How are you? Do you remember what occasion it is today?” …”

“Bang!” A sound reverberated through the air. “Happy birthday!” What? It is my birthday? Oh ya! “I heard you can come out of your house since you are 14… I mean 15…”Michelle shouted into my ears. Not to my liking. “Yes…and I even went to a trip to Malaysia without anyone once!” I replied. “Wow! It is not fair! You are a girl and I am a boy! I should be able to do it too! Why not?” “Of course! I am a year older year older than you… wait…no, two!”

In the end, Ramon, Dandeon and Litury and I went home together.

We call ourselves “Yessi”. We went to MY house and searched for a good

computer game when I remembered my awesome game which I had perfected.

“Umm…how about this?” I pointed to the shiny Title, THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE Below,

It said: Expires in three weeks. I clicked on it as soon as Dandeon said, “Go on,

Birthday girl.”

Click. “Time to show my skills.” I thought to myself. BOOM! I got a fright of my life as a ‘Boom!’ started ringing.I went through three levels after 30 minutes! T’was fun! Then a flash came and everything changed into a dark screen. YOU HAVE LEVELED UP! YOU MAY GO TO WWW.KINGRU.COM TO COLLECT A VISIT TO … I could not see the next few words as the screen flickered and became normal. I only knew we go to somewhere to collect four things. We went to www.kingruse.com and got a ticket. I do not know how, but it just came out. And the moment I touched it, the FOUR off us felt dizzy and whizzed past things and, landed somewhere hot.

We espied 4 small vehicles, got up, and stumbled towards one of them. I got to the front seat and felt the dizziness fly away. “Flying things maybe?” I thought. “Fly then, fly!” Immediately my vehicle flew up and a button appeared. It was marked as ‘fly’. “Wow! How about… straight!” It flew forward. Another button. I shouted my friends the controls, and then we swiftly flew and flew. As I did not know where to go, I whispered, “Home” and then I told my friends to tell the “Thodo” we called it, to go to my house. And then I screamed. I was in a really fast roller-coaster speeding home. Everything was a blur. I thought it was a dream. “I am still at home. I am still at home…” I repeated to myself. Out of the blue, everything stopped. I opened my eyes. I was at home. But still in the thodo. I saw mum. “Invisible!” I thought and pressed the new button. I motioned to my friends and surprisingly, they asked me to be invisible. “But, I am!” Then it dawned on us. We are invisible to those who are not using Thodo. Suddenly, something happened. The Thodo flashed a screen at me. It said “Ho bisogno di energia.”

Hey!What is hobeesoh…no…nodeeaenergia…umm…hobeesohnodeeaenerjia?” I asked. I got an answer I expected. “Alien language is not a language I learn.” Another more sensible one though for the next. “Something about energy? And then smart Dandeon said: “Spanish?” We drove to our Teacher, Mrs Chia. She is our teacher for different languages. I parked our cars to the top off the tree and realised that we have to put a password. I put ‘20114’ 20 = T (20th number) 1=A and 14= N T-A-N Tan. My surname. We asked Mrs Chia and she said: “NO!It is not spanish! It is Italian. For ‘I need energy’. ” “If a vehicle was made in different way, what different type of batteries does it need?” I asked. “It may be anything!” came a reply. I turned around. It was my geometric teacher. He was smiling. OH NO! I thought. That means, I might never find out what it is! “Thanks!” I exclaimed. Then I rushed out. We ‘drove’ to our secret meeting place, in which we called ‘Mesece’ (‘Me’eting, ‘se’cret, pla‘ce’ sadly.

I noticed their down looks and decided I should try to comfort them. “C’mon, everybody. Ya know, we should not look upset or else our friends and family members might suspect something.” That did the job. They started patting each other’s backs, stood up and then patted my back. “Thanks Anna.” We got out of our Tho… Thodus (For plural).

“Guys… I mean people! Where shall we park this… vehicle? I could see they were troubled. “The garden nearby has a big shelter… why not put it on top?” Litury asked. I answered, “Why? Of course not! Do you not know? How are we going to climb back up?” “Ladder…” “No! People will find it totally strange!” Then, I had a brainwave. “Dandeon! Do you not have a tree house?” Everybody brightened up. We flew to the tree house. “Anna! WANT TO HELP ME WITH THIS?!” I heard my mother call. I went to my house and looked at my little horse and the chickens. “You should get some too.” I whispered and threw a handful of seeds to them. And I watched them for a second as they fought to eat the scattered seeds. Still, they were well-fed and without worries… well until the scary day they meet their meaty end. Not a good joke. I went in. I must say I like helping out. My mother’s homemade cake, tiramisus, brownies…etcetera most of the time does not look good but it is always… always excellent. That is why my family is so rich. We never buy anything! We have chickens, cows, sheep... including a baker (mum), a person who sews (mum), we have the slaughterer (dad)… I told ya… everything. And my family still have the business of selling the T-shirts my mum make, the delicious meals both my mum and dad make. Uh oh… my saliva is coming out. Slurp!

In fact, all my friends in Yessi besides Ramon are all pretty rich for our village. Dandeons’ mother is a business merchant. Liturys’ father is a Shop manager in selling clothing. Cool eh? Ramon is like an average citizen. Her mum is a housewife, the father a little waiter at the food place nearby. Oh yeah, the fact is that I have another 4 brothers, see, so my mum and dad really works very hard. Ramon has a brother and a sister, Dandeon has another sister, Litury is the only child in her family.

The next day, I brought some doughnuts to share around. It was those mini ones from my favourite stall, but I had to walk quite far to get it bought. Everybody loved it. “Whoops!” butterfingered Litury had dropped her doughnut into my Thodo. “Litury!” the others shouted. “Guys! Girls! YOU GOT TO SEE THIS! The energy bar we discovered is rising! And the sugar on the doughnut is disappearing!” I shouted. Everybody crowded around. “You are a genius, Anna and your careless act gave us success, Litury.” “Long live Yessi!” we chanted. Now that we know the secret of the energy it needs, we shouted for joy and went home for tea break. When we met again at Mesece, we each brought sugar and dumped it in the thodo. But, I was the smartest. I made a box out of paper and used tape to stick it on. Then, I took packets of metal-ball-like-structure sugar balls (still in the packet which is the RedMan brand) and put it in the thodo. Nice. Just for emergency. And I can always eat it!

I was all ecstatic and slowly went out of my house, stretching. “RUING! RUING!” “The burglar alarm sound!” I thought. What to do? Obviously everyone in ‘YESSI’ has heard it as I could see them running to me. What to do? What to do? Thoughts reverberated through me. I looked around me. All trees, no guards… oh yes! Trees! “Run to the tree house and get your Thodus!” I yelled. We ran. “PEOPLE! Attention please. I am the leader right? So, Litury and Dandeon! Go get help!” Litury went left and Dandeon, right. “Ramon! Follow me!” I zoomed to the burglar and took his gun. My, it was heavy. I put it in the Thodo. The burglar became startled and searched around for his gun. Haha, he cannot see us. Me and RAMON ‘parked’ our car in the tree house and then carried the gun together. We needed FOUR hands! The burglar must be strong. The BURGLAR SAW us! I screamed an ear piercing scream and the burglar fell back a bit. Then he charged. And I accidently pressed the trigger. “Boom!” but out came no bullet. “HA HA!” THE BURGLAR CRACKED A SMILE. I was so scared. But reinforcements came in time! I was praised and gotten a civil award. So was the rest of the group.

We were now a hero. Everyone is proud of the team ‘YESSI’- my relatives and all other group members’ relatives. There before us, lay our life and things I need to do. After all, it has always been my dream to be like this. A hero not so famous. Not fussed by photographs and meetings… just a good praising and helping civilians. Someone who doesn’t help the elderly, carrying things up and down for people, but still recognised as a good person. Fantastic.

Actually, not really. I’ve checked. School is tomorrow.
