Woe is Me assignment Wk 3
Week 3 PE #3
“Woe Is Me”

DP: Internal motivation and commitment lead to increased self-esteem and success in goal.

Themes:
+ goals work best if we have internal motivation
- making changes for someone else seldom has the same outcome as doing it for oneself.

CC: Lucy

SC: Frank (negative comments propelled her to do for herself) He was behind several of the crises:

Crises (3):

1. Overheard friends making fun of her
2. Being dumped by boyfriend for being too fat brought her to suicidal thoughts.
3. After some success at keeping weight off, ex-bf still rebuffed her.

Life Changing Event

At just the moment she was rebuffed, a friend led her to WW which gave her a way to motivate herself and stick with her goal for a longer time.

Resolution is that losing all the weight was secondary to her increased self confidence in rebuffing the ex boyfriend. After all, it wasn’t about him anyway. It was really about her being confident about herself and her ability to positively affect her health and weight and follow through with a goal she set for herself and ultimately to choose not to be around people who had intentions to belittle her newfound confidence.
