A poem about domestic violence. |
Shadow of a Memory Haunting me at night Love falls, Crashes, shoots downstream, Declining through a rocky path, Snatching my heart astray, I howl beyond a rational thought, At the void, gaze endlessly, Pretend I’m in a different place, A warm place next to you, A different you that treats me right, Without unintentional thorns, Pricking me in my sleep, Terrifying me when I wake, Because you changed! Why did you change? Now, nothing is left of us, But lament, Along with the destruction you reaped, So don’t wake me when I sleep, Since I’ll be gone, Happily |
