A unique poem about writing and how all that I do depends on others. |
-Listen- by Keaton Foster Listen Do not miss Hear everything Know it all Understand Comprehend Then again I am just a man A simple enough poet Who somehow knows it What that is Only these words can confess The sum of everything Piled into neat piles Lines atop of lines What an absolute mess Nonsensical alone Unifiedly consequential as one I have sworn allegiance To this God given gift I can do nothing else Promises standing like mountains Immovable objects of intent Impassible monuments to what if Image if you somehow can An itch behind your eyes A splinter deep in your mind A cavernous hollow in your gut All meant to drive you nuts All meant to force you to feel Something more than most Something darker Than what is easily known An endless ache of pressure Only relieved for mere seconds Only when I get the words to flow That is my life The cause of such strife Listen If you can If you dare I will be quite clear If you are open to such clarity I will not shy away From my responsibility Please lend me the same courtesy God hangs his head in judgment Into his soul I have been In the wilderness of forever I have once stood I have since returned If only for a brief time I am here to express what is And what has ever been Dare I say quite arrogantly That I am an expert A masterfully crafted craftsman So listen if you can And pay closer attention Stomach what is being said Understand the weight Hold it close to your heart Allow it to ignite a spark Allow it to force you to question Fear nothing of asking Elaboration is what I do best Hear everything Take it deep inside Call it your own Do whatever it takes Whatever you feel you must Because I long since have done the same Upon the page is not only my truth But I am sure The truth of every one of you… Listen Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2013 |
