Personal thoughts on a tribute to American craftsmanship.
                                              THE CADILLAC RANCH

One little, two little, three little Cadillacs. Four little, five little, six little Cadillacs.

Seven little, eight little, nine little Cadillacs. Ten little Cadillacs, all in a row.

The Cadillac Ranch. Exit 62b, just after Amarillo, heading west. Established in 1974, by a Texas Millionaire. An Ant farm, so the sign says. Built as a tribute to American craftsmanship and loyalty.

Travelers from all over the world have written and drawn on these cars, From the obscure to the obscene. Great poems little ditties, initials, memorials. Art or graffiti. Using markers, finger paints, spray paints, eyebrow pencils, nail polish and two penny nail scratches.

Everyone leaves their mark.

Everyone but us.

It has been ingrained into my generation... "Do not touch", do not (fold, spindle or mutilate) other people's property. Are there graffiti police in the middle of a Texas Ant Farm?

I would have loved to have left my mark. Does that make me of gang mentaltiy? Maybe it's because of my love of words, and an overpowering need to be heard.

I wish I had time to read them all, but the car lover in My Husband, could not tolerate the disfiguring of such masterpieces of American workmanship.

Even if they are stuck in the clay in the middle of than Ant Farm in Texas

R.I.P.

This was in 1994. I eventually returned four more times. On what I knew to be my last visit. I did write a tribute to John Denver... FAR OUT!
