a look into the Appalachian mnts. and its people. sort of a poem sort of an essay. |
God’s Appalachia By Lisa Noe Appalachia is a beautiful place, the land is blessed by God it is Mountains Majesty, misting rain on greener leaves. It is flowers, Dogwood, and Redbud trees, and the scent of honeysuckle floating in the air. It is lush green mountains tangled with vines, and ferns growing from every creek. It is a place where you can hike through mountains filled with trails, or repel through the air against the side of stone. It is and will always be a place where children can run free. Appalachia is a beautiful place, the people are blessed by God himself. They are righteous, in that they remember our Lord and put Him first in everything. They remember where they come from; for the mountains leave no one’s heart untouched. No matter how far you go from there you always come back for more. No matter how high in life you rise, you’ll remember when you were but a poor righteous child of God in a land he blessed in the ancient days. Appalachia is a beautiful place, though many will sneer and snub, for they have never been to the hills that reach to heaven high. So many hurtful things are said, I dispell them once and for all. No, we don’t do the things we are accused of everyday. We are not dirty and lazy, many work in different ways. Maybe some can fit your bill, but others cringe at your spill. We are like everyone else just poorer for there are few jobs. |
