Scott is very ill and needs a transplant. Someone else's tragedy will be his miracle. |
We Wait, It’s All We Do Scott is ill, without help he’ll die, But what he needs, money can’t buy. We pray and wait the whole day through, So long we wait, it’s all we do. An LVAD was installed, Yet his doctor’s words I recalled. “I’m determined to see this through.” So long we wait, it’s all we do. Now we needed someone on call This helped, but would be a long haul. He could still die for all we knew So long we wait, it’s all we do. We’re elated with his progress, Things are dicey, a bit like chess. We’ve been so patient, feel we’re due So long we wait, it’s all we do. He is my love, makes me complete I don’t know how, but death we’ll cheat A donor’s needed, that is true, So long we wait, it’s all we do. So someone else’s tragedy, Will be our miracle, the key He needs a heart, there are so few, So long we wait, it’s all we do. Jim Dorrell 3/17/13 This is a Kyrielle poem, eight syllables in each line, rhyming Quatrains with an aabB rhyme scheme. The second b (B) is a refrain used in each verse. This is based on a friend's friend who is terribly ill, and needs a heart transplant. His wife's posts on Facebook inspired this poem. |
