Why do we need the Holy Spirit? |
At an early age, we learn about Jesus in Sunday School. We read some of the stories about people of that time and the lives that they lived. Who is God, the Holy Spirit? How is that some have not learned about the Spirit and what He does? How do we know what is true and what isn't? Sometimes it is hard to tell, unless the Holy spirit dwells within to comfort and guide us into all truth. Do some struggle with learning the truth about themselves from the Spirit? We have been taught what we know from others, books, school, or at church. We may have gained a lot of knowledge that helps us to better know who the Holy Spirit is. Is what we know truthful? Would we find the Holy Spirit agreeing with us? Do some struggle with opening their heart and mind to the truth that the Holy Spirit will show us and reveal to us? The Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth and He is on earth to guide all who believe into all truth. John 16:13 He helps us t know the truth of God's Word and how to let it guide us each and everyday. Further readings: John 8:32; 14:6; 14:7; 1 John 5:16 Jesus promises the Holy Spirit to all who seek to obey God and what He commands us to do through His Word/ Jesus referred to the Spirit, as a counselor, who will be with those who believe now and forever. If some are lukewarm believers or doubtful, they may not always experience what the Spirit is trying to reveal to them. If some seek to test God's truth in some way, they may be left wondering why they do not know the truth about God and His ways. Those who do not believe will not accept the truth, when they hear it. They will always try to put God and His teachings down. Believers may get knocked around but they will always get back up because the spirit of God is always with believers. When we love, we have the ability and desire to love Jesus and to obey His teachings. Those who say they love but are full of doubt and uncertainty will not want to obey His teachings. They do not have the power of the Holy Spirit to help them. Maybe they have heard the scriptures, but do not really want to know the truth which might cause them to turn from what they are doing. If they are struggling to carry out their daily activities then maybe they do need to open their hearts and minds to what the Holy Spirit will do for them If they are struggling, they have been going astray. They may not know God, the Father in a way that will enable them to have a relationship with the Father. Is it really necessary for us to have asked the Holy Spirit into our hearts and minds? God's Word brings out that it is. Even the apostles didn't set out on their work until the Holy Spirit had come upon them. We may be struggling with what we have done wrong. It may haunt us day end and day out, until we seek the Holy Spirit's help to understand what we did to hurt God, others, and ourselves in some way. We may believe and confess what we think is wrong when it is something else causing the heartache. Without the Holy Spirit, there is no power for believers to come to Jesus. Our eyes would be blind; we would not be able to see the truth or even want to know what the truth is. Where do we find the Holy Spirit, the third member of the Trinity? He isn't very far away, all we have to do is to pray the sinners prayer and to believe with all of our heart and mind what we have prayed. He will not force His way upon us or into our lives. He will wait for us to ask, no matter what we are going through. What do we want to know about the Godheads of the Trinity? It is the work of the Holy Spirit to show us the deep things of God and the mysteries of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:10-12 |
