A poem about life's struggles, but don't just take it from me... |
Things may not go as drawn and planned Such is the plight of beast and man It’s all just lines drawn in the sand, But don’t take it from me. Dreams grow in baskets of hope As you climb life’s slippery slope And when times get hard you try to cope, But don’t take it from me. Reaching for things that glisten like gold You try to grasp what you’ve been told So you get there before you’re old, But don’t take it from me. Dreams and things, they come and go Getting tossed to and fro By all the things you just don’t know, But don’t take it from me. Sometimes caught in pockets of fear You cannot see and do not hear The simple things that make it clear, But don’t take it from me. Strength from hope to carry on Through blockades your mind has spawned To know this night will have a dawn, But don’t take it from me. As for me I will adapt Cause that is what my soul is apt Even when it goes to crap, So don’t take it from me. The pain in life I will survive And savor the days I’m still alive Finding peace from deep inside; You can’t take it from me. In some ways I am not strong And some choices may be wrong, But I still sing the fighting song, You won’t take it from me. So take my dreams and all my things And put me in the boxing rings But I will still be answering, Come get it from me! |
