Just A Dream
Based on the book Something Like Fate, a Liam Payne fanfiction

Love is a beautiful thing. But it can also be dangerous. It's who you share it with is what decides weather your love is going to be dangerous or beautiful. My story begins with a friend, girl, a guy, and a lie.

I was at my flat, getting ready to go see my best friend, Kate's new boyfriend. It was really one of the only times I could see him, because she was so busy lately due to packing. She was going to move to another city in a few weeks, and wanted me to make sure I met him. I was really happy for her, mostly because the last person she dated was Nate, who she really loved. He broke her heart a few months ago, and she never was the same. Being with her new boyfriend brought out the side of her that she only had around Nate. Her joyful side. And as her best friend I always want her to be happy, so I agreed to go to our favourite resturaunt to meet him.
I was getting ready to to go, when I got a text from her:
Kate: We're heading out, can't wait for you to meet him!
I smiled, and texted back.
Me: Same, I'll be there in a few.
I got my car keys and headed out. I got to the place, and looked around for them. I saw Kate sitting in a booth, so I made my way over to her. I sat down next to her, which stunned her a bit, "Oh my gosh! Maggie you made it!" she said giving me a hug. "Oh, I almost forgot. This, is Liam." she said gesturing towards the guy across from us.
I looked at him. His brown eyes were mezmorizing, his brown hair cut in a buzzcut. He smiled at me, and I realized I was staring at him weirdly. I smiled back, "Hi." I spoke almost in a studder. I don't know what it was, but something about him made me a bit uneasy and nervous.
"Hey." he spoke cooly. I stared at him, smiling. His jaw clenched a bit as he looked into my eyes like he was reading my mind. I hadn't even noticed, until Kate cleared her throat about how long we remained in eye contact. I quickly snapped out of the daze.
"I'm Maggie." I said holding my hand out over the table.
"Liam. Nice to meet you." he said holding his gaze. I smiled.
"So, I can see that you two are going to get along really well." Kate joked, but I could tell in her voice she thought something was up.
We talked and ate pizza, though I couldn't really pay attention to anything but Liam. He hardly talked and would sneak a look at me when he could, not saying that I didn't do the same.
"I'll be right back," Kate said as I took a bite of my pizza. "I'm going to go get everyone some more drinks." I helped her get out of the booth, and sat back down. She walked out of sight, so I turned over to Liam. He was looking at me with large brown eyes.
"Hi there." I said.
A smirk crossed his face. "Hey." I don't know why, but that one word gave me chills. He chuckled a bit. "Nervous huh?" I heard in his voice an accent. I couldn't really make it out but it was definately there.
"I-I uh, how did you meet Kate?" I asked.
He stared at me a bit before ansering. "Well I moved to her street, and she saw me at the park. We talked, and I really got to know her." he sat back in the booth a bit. "What about you, what's your story?"
I could tell he knew he made me nervous. "Uh, well-" but just then, Kate came back with drinks.
"What are we talking about?" she said sliding into the booth.
"Nothing much.." I smiled.

..........

A day had passed, and I was at my flat, my long brown hair was put into a bun, I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and I put on my embarrissing glasses becasue I knew I wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. I was in the middle of eating a tub of icecream watching a bunch of movies, because there was no school that Friday due to the recent snow storm. I just put in Toy Story, because I decided to start with my least favourite movie and work my way up, when I heard someone knock on my door. I got up to open the door, and saw Liam standing in front of me. I was stunned, "Hey Liam, is Kate with you?" I said looking outside.
"No, just me. Nice glasses by the way." he snickered. I quickly took them off, blushing and putting my head down. Though I couldn't see anything without them. He lifted my head up with his hand, took my glasses out of my other hand and put them on me. "You look really pretty in them, you should wear them more often." he smiled.
I knew that my cheeks were red. "What are you doing out here, it's snowing like crazy."
"I uh, just really wanted to see you." he shyly stated. I looked at him weirdly, and saw his smile. It was warm, and my stomach tingled a bit looking at him. "So, you wanna come in?" I stepped out of the way of the door.
He walked in, and saw that Toy Story was on the TV. "Oh my gosh! I love this movie!" he squeeled. I found out by listening to him talk, that his accent was Brttish.
I giggled a bit. "Really? I can't stand it."
He turned to me in desbelief. "What?!"
"Yeah, least favourite movie by far." I said sitting down next to him on the couch.
"Your words discust me." he joked. I laughed. "I mean, how do you not like this movie?"
"I don't know, it never really interested me." I shrugged.
"That's unexceptable." he laughed, "You have to watch and accept this movie as the awesomeness that it is."
"Ugh," I groaned.
"Don't 'ugh' me, you are going to learn to love this movie. Along with the other two. Now watch." he pointed to the screen. I looked at him watch the movie, but sighed and coninued to watch it.
Once it was over, we started the second one, but talked instead of paying attention to it. It turns out the opinion of the movie wasn't the only thing we didn't agree on. We had almost nothing in common. We were in the middle of arguing weather Milk or Dark chocolate was better, "Well milk chocolate doesn't taste all weird and darky." I stated.
"That argument was totally invalid." he said following me into the kitchen.
"You're totally invalid." I joked.
"You're so weird. Yet another thing we don't have in common, I'm actually normal." he folded his arms.
"Oh really?" I countered.
"Yeah."
"Would a normal person randomly make someone watch their least favourite movie?"
"If it was one of the best movies made, then yes."
"Okay, have fun with that." I rolled my eyes.
"I'd watch your back, I am stronger than you you know." he smiled.
"I turned towards him, "You wanna bet?" I stuck my tounge out at him. Before I knew what was going on, he pushed me against the wall, holding my arms tightly squeezing them.
"I won." he whispered, smiling.
I laughed, and looked up. His eyes were fixed on mine. He slowly leaned in, brushing our noses together softly. Before I found out what was happening, he kissed me. Sparks flew all throuhout my body. I closed my eyes, and felt his arms move from mine to my hips. A short quiet moan left his lips. My phone rang, going off in my back pocket, he burried his head in my neck, and got my phone out of my pocket and handed it to me.
I answered it, it was Kate. "Hey, Maggie."
"Oh, hey Kate." I said trying to get Liam's attention to tell him it was her, but he kept nuzzling my neck. "So, what's up?" I asked trying to push Liam off.
"Oh nothing much, just got bored, and didn't want to bother Liam. He's probably busy." He began sucking on my neck as I tried to push him away, but with little success because I was only using one hand. A small grunt sound came out, which made Liam laugh a bit. Kate must've heard it through the phone, "Are you okay? You sound like you're in a bit of a struggle." she asked.
"No, I'm fine. I just was-" I was cut off by the sensation of Liam biting my sweet spot. I gasped, "I have to go, I'll call you later bye Kate." I said hanging up. I put my phone back in my pocket. "Are you insane!?" I said pushing him back. He only laughed at my frustration.
"You're so adorable." he said coming closer to me pushing my hair behind my ear.
"Liam, we can't do this. You're with Kate, and she's my best friend."
He looked down at the floor, "I know. I know I should feel like a really terrible person right now, but I just feel really happy around you." he said brushing his hand against my cheek. "There's just something odd about you that just makes me want more of you. I don't want to fight that kind of feeling."
I was about to protest, but instead grabbed the back of his neck and leaned him in for a kiss. I don't know what was going through my mind but I just needed him to be with me. He pulled away, smiling. He put his hands on my cheeks. I wrapped my arms around his waist holding him close to me.
"I don't want you to fight it."
"Good." he softly spoke his brown eyes never leaving mine.

........

I woke up on Sunday morning, took a shower and put on some sweats and a cameo. I went downstirs to find my TV on, and Liam sitting on my couch. He looked behind the couch, "Hey babe, I was wondering when you were going to get up." he looked at his watch. "It's like 9:00 a.m." he said walking up to me.
I stood there astonished. "How did you get into my flat?"
"You better find a harder place to hide your spare key Mags." he said holding up my key.
"Give me that!" I grabbed it out of his hand. "And my name is Maggie not 'Mags'."
"It's called a nickname. You're welcome, I gave you your very own, fun nickname."
"So I get a stolen key and a nickname. This day seems pretty good so far." I smiled. "Want some coffe?"
"Sure, thanks." he said sitting on a stool by the counter. "Aren't you a little too young to be drinking coffee?"
"I'm 18."
"Yeah but I'm 20, meaning I am superior to you!"
I rollled my eyes. "Oh, yes you are oh great one."
"Bow down to your master." he joked. We both laughed, and I heard my door bell ring.
"Who could that be?" I said sarcastically going to the door.
"Probably another pesant asking for my many riches to pay off dept." he yelled behind me.
I opened the door, smiling and saw it was my friend Harry. "Hey Harry, what's up?"
"Oh nothing, just thought I'd drop by and check on things around here."
"We're fine."
"We?"
"My, uh, friend Liam and I." I said letting him in.
"Ha, I knew it. I could smell your coffee from all the way across the street." he joked. His accent resembled Liam's but Harry had a deep almost raspy voice.
"That's seriously the only reason you still come over here." I said heading over to the coffee pot. "Liam, this is Harry. Harry, Liam."
"Nice to meet you lad." Harry smiled.
"Likewise."
I got two cups while they started talking, and poored their coffee in it. I turned around to hand them their cups. "There you go boys."
"Thanks Mags." Liam smiled.
"Mags?" Harry questioned.
"It's her new nickname." he laughed.
Harry laughed, taking a sip of the coffee. "You make the best cup ever, I hope you know that." he said over to me.
"Giant Eagle's best Harry."
"So, Liam, are you dating Maggie?" he curiously asked.
I almost choked on my coffee. Liam looked at me, for almost permission. "Uh, we're sort of, like.." I started.
"Close friends." he finished.
"Yeah, just really close friends."
"That hang out together."
"As friends do." I finished as we both nervously sipped out coffee.
Harry had a look that said he knew exactly what we were trying to avoid. "Well, that's interesting."
"Mhm." I spoke into my mug.
"So does Kate know about you guys secretly dating?" Harry smiled.
"We're not secretly dating Harold." he huffed at the mention of his full first name. He absolutely despised it when I used it.
"And no, but we're going to tell her." Liam stated.
I cleared my throat. "You know she's going to be crushed." Harry pointed out.
"No she won't she's dated plenty of guys." I said.
"None like Liam, or nay I bring up Nate."
"She can find other guys it's not the end of the world Harry!" I shot back.
Harry stood stunned, then smiled. He turned to Liam, "She really likes you." he stated. "You really like him." he said to me.
"How do you know?" I asked as I felt my cheeks getting redder.
"You'd never do anything like this if it weren't for something really important to you Maggie, and you know it."
Liam smiled. "Am I really that important to you?"
"I-I just.. Yeah. I guess you are." I said my feet becoming really interesting.
Liam got up, and went over to me, and gave me a warm hug. "I really like you, Mags. I think I'll keep you." he whispered. I grabbed on to his arm, smiling.
"Thanks." I quietly said.
I heard Harry whistle, aimlessly looking around the flat. When we looked at him, he smiled. "Nice place you've got here."
"Alright Harry, you've had enough coffee for this month. Goodbye." I said pushing him towards the door.
He laughed. "Okay, bye! Bye Liam, it was nice to meet you! Hope things work out between you guys!"
"See ya later Harry!" Liam said back.
"Tell your fahter I said hi Harry, bye." I said when we got to the door.
"Bye love, I'll be back for coffee." he said turning to go to his house.
I got back to the kitchen, shaking my head to find that Liam wasn't there. I looked around he flat but didn't see him. I was walking down a hall, and turned a corner, and Liam jumped out at me, scaring me half to death. And grabbed me so that my back was on his chest. "Liam, you seriously almost gave me a heart attack!" I yelled at him. He just continued laughing. "And this is funny how?" I sighed.
"You're cute when you're mad." he smiled.
I pushed away from him and crossed my arms. He saw the anger in my eyes, and gave me this look. It was so adorable, his brown eyes turned into dark caves that led you in with no way of escaping. His hands were in his pockets to help symbolize his innocence. I let my arms fall, and he opened his. He grabbed me and dug his head in my long hair.
"I've found your weakness." he giggled in my ear, picking me up bridal style, and carrying me over to the couch. Where we watched TV for the rest of the day.

........

On Monday, I got to school, and the first thing I saw at my locker was Liam. I smiled at the sight of him. "How'd you find my locker?" I asked opening it.
"I drove Kate here and she told me where it was."
"Where is she now?"
"Bathrom," he informed me. "I wanted to stay back and see when you were coming."
"Are you sure it's really like safe for you to hang out by my locker at school?" I whispered to make sure no one heard.
"I'm not a safe person, Mags." he spoke seductively in my ear. I blushed, and by the looks of his smile I could tell he knew it.
I got my books out of my locker and shut it. Kate came up the stairs into the hall, and walked towards us.
"Hey Katie Kat." I put my books down on a nearby table.
"Hey Maggie," she went over to Liam and kissed his cheek. "And Liam." she smiled sweetly. I looked down at my books becoming a little jealous as stupid as it was.
"I bet you're going to miss walking these halls." I said.
"Ha, yeah. But I'm pretty sure the new school will be just as fun."
"Mhm." I rolled my eyes.
"Don't be a sower puss Maggie." she laughed.
"Oh, didn't you hear? Her name isn't Maggie anymore." Liam stated looking over to me.
"What is it?" Kate asked.
"Mags." he answered sticking out his tounge at me. I did he same, and we both brust out laughing.
"When did you guys come up with that?" she asked a bit suspicious.
Liam looked over at me, the same worry had strucken him. Should we tell her about last weekend? What would we even say? "Uh, is that the bell?"
"I don't hear anything." Kate countered.
I grabbed my stuff off of the table "Don't you hear that bell Liam?"
"Yeah." he studdered "I'll see you girls later." he said hugging Kate and heading out the door. I went out of the hallway, leaving Kate to wonder.

........

When I got home, I couldn't think, or eat, or much of anything. It was 11 p.m. and I couldn't sleep so I decide to ask Harry about it. I started to text him.
Harry: So what, are you guys just going to act all non-chelaunt around around Kate, and then chew on eachother's tounges when you get home?"
Me: No! We're just going to play it cool until we figure out how to tell her.
Harry: Well you better tell her soon. She called me earlier today and told me you guys were acting odd.
Me: She asked me when Liam came up with my nickname! what was I supposed to do?"
Harry: What did you do?"
Me: Told her some pahetic excuse then ran away.. Please give me advise on this.
Harry: I don't know what to tell you.
Me: How? You're like the ladies man!
Harry: I've never been in this kind of situation!
Me: But you're the older one! Meaning you must intelect me.
Harry: I'm 19 years old.
Me: Exactly.
Harry: Mags, I honestly can't give you any helpful advise. I would if I could you know that.
Me:Yeah. Thanks anyway Harold.
Harry: This is why I don't like talking to you.
Me: Lol. Go to sleep curly.
Harry: Kay night love, good luck.
Me: Thanks I'm going to need it.
Talking to Harry always calmed me down a bit, but I was still really nervous about the whole thing. I knew Liam was probably asleep so I didn't want to disturb him, and it's not like I could talk to Kate about it. She helped me with everything, I felt kind of lost without her.

........

On Tuesday, after I got back home, I got a call from Kate. I picked up my phone, but just sort of waited before answering it. I stared at her picture ID, which was a picture of us that we took when we went to the pool when we were little. She was my best friend. Could I really hurt her like this? So easily?
I answered my phone, "Hey Kate."
"Hey Maggie. Or should I say Mags." she giggled.
"Oh my gosh. You know he got Harry to start calling that too."
"When did he meet Harry?"
"Uh.." I didn't want to lie to her. "He like came over while we were having coffee at my place."
"Wait, who dropped by, and who was having coffee with you?" she waited for my responce. "Are you hididng something from me?"
"No."
"Are you sure? You've been acting a bit odd lately. I'm kind of worried." but before I could protest, my phone beeped. I was getting another call, but it was an 'Unknown number'. "I have to go, I'll call you later." I said.
"Okay. I want to talk to you though so make sure you call me back." she stated.
I hung up and answered the other number. "Hello?"
"Hey hot lips." I heard the familiar laugh over the phone and knew exactly who it was. I sighed in relief.
"I'm so freaking glad you called me."
"Rawr, well babe I can do more than call you." he teased.
"Oh shut up, I meant because I was on the phone with Kate a second ago. We really have to tell her soon."
"I know." he said,"But that's not why I called you."
"Why did you? And how did you even get my number?"
"You're a really heavy sleeper."
"You went in my room in my sleep!?"
"Ha, no Harry gave it to me." he laughed.
"You're so mean." I said trying to hold in my laughter.
"Thank you. And I called you to ask you out. On like a date. If you anti-social people know what that is." he joked.
"Acually, I go on dates all the time."
"All the time?"
"All the time." I confirmed.
"Yeah okay. Good luck with that Mags."
I laughed. "And I would love to go on a date with you, Liam."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"That's awesome." he said excited. I giggled a bit because of how happy he was getting. I've never really had that happen to me before, he made me feel like I mattered to someone. "I'll pick you up at your house tomorrow night."
"Okay. Thanks."
"For what?"
"Asking me out, I guess."
He laughed. "You're so weird. I'll see you then."
"Kay." I smiled, and he hung up. When I put my phone down, I grabbed a nearby pillow off of the couch and screamed into it. I was so happy. He brought out a side of me I never really knew I had. I guess he had that effect on people. But I didn't care, all I cared about was that next night.
I must've fallen asleep on my couch because I woke up to the sound of Kate coming in the door. I got up. "Does everyone know where I hide that key!?"
She shrugged, "Probably. I mean I told Harry, but I'm pretty sure it's just because it's a terrible hiding spot. It's seriously sitting on your door frame, all you have to do is reach up and get it."
I sighed, and sat up on the couch so she could sit down. "So what's up?" I asked.
"Well I wanted to see you in person because I was really worrying because neither you or Liam would answer your phones."
"Well I was sleeping, and I'm sure that Liam's phone just died or something." I said playing with my fingers trying to come up with a different topic to talk about.
"Yeah, you're probably right. He's really nice, I mean I think I really like this one."
"But not like like? Right?"
She smiled, and looked down at the pillow she was clutching. "Yeah, I think I really do like like him."
That sentence almost made me burst out crying right there on the couch. "Oh. Huh."
"Isn't everything just so perfect Maggie?" she said leaning back on the couch, sighing.
"Yeah, just awesome."

.......

I was getting ready for the date, putting on my dress, making sure it fit and everything. I made Harry come over to make sure I looked okay. I had to make him coffee though. I walked out into the living room. "How do I look?" I asked Harry who was lounging on the couch.
He looked at me and smiled. "Beautiful." he got up off of the couch. "Oh gosh, I remember when you were just a little girl!"
"And it starts." I sighed.
"We were playing in little dirt piles, singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star while your mom took pictures!" he started fake crying and yelling as loud as he could. "Oh how I miss those times!" he said shaking my shoulders. "All three of us, just me, you, and Katie Kat. Nothing to worry about, nothing to make us sad!"
"Just when you threw stuff at us." I corrected him.
"Just when I threw stuff at you!" he yelled, and pulled me into a hug. "Oh, I hope you have the time of your life Maggie, I really do."
I laughed. "Thanks Harry."
"And I'll look after your place until you get back in the morning." he said grabbing his bowl of popcorn and sitting back down on the couch.
"I won't be gone all night."
"Mhm," he raised his eyebrow. The doorbell rang. "He's here!" he clapped.
"Be cool! Be cool." I said to him. He laughed as I opened the door. I saw Liam standing there, he smiled looking me up and down.
"You look amazing." he said kissing my cheek.
I blushed, you don't look too bad yourself." I said poking his arm.
"Nice one Mags!" Harry yelled from behind. We both looked back at him. "Hey Liam." he waved.
"Hey Harold." he smiled.
He scruffed. "Oh just be on your way I have popcorn to eat." he turned back to his bowl.
We laughed. "Ready to go?" Liam asked holding out his hand.
"Ready." I took it. We left, and got in his dark blue porsche. "So where are we going?"
"Well, there was this movie I wanted to check out. And I thought you would like it."
"Should I be scared?"
"Very."
"Oh gosh." I sighed. He snickered happy with himself.
We got to the movie theater and it turns out that the movie theater was playing one of my favourite movies in 3D, which was Titanic. "How did you know I loved this movie?" I asked him as we entered the place.
"Well, I picked the movie that someone completely oposite of me," he nudged me. "That would be you. And picked it."
"You don't like this movie?" I asked.
"It's not that, it's an awesome movie. Just sad." he said.
I grabbed his hand and intertwined our fingers. "I'll be there when you start crying." I joked.
"Shut up." he said smiling.
We watched the movie, and I was honestly crying the entire ending. I always did, I didn't know why I thought that that time would be different. We exited the theater, Liam was trying to hold in the laugh that he wanted to get out. "Don't even say it." I warned trying not to smile while getting in his car.
"I'm not going to." he said letting it slip.
As he laughed, I couldn't help but smile a bit. "Alright alright. I know I'm a complete softy when it comes to movies. You don't have to rub it in."
He started the car and began to drive. "Okay, I'm good." he said still snickering.
"You know what,"
"What?"
"I'm going to find the saddest movie ever and see if you don't cry."
"Good luck with that." he rolled his eyes laughing. He took me out to dinner after the movie at one of his favourite resturaunts. It was quiet and just beautiful. He told me he picked it because his father would always take him.
"He told me that one day, I was going to sit at this exact table and bring the perfect girl with me." he smiled.
I blushed, and looked down at my plate.
"So. I was wondering. Do you want me to drop you off at your house or.." he wandered. I looked up at him expectingly. It made him even more nervous. "You know, because Harry's probably still there. And I. I uh, just figured. Or just wanted to know. Like would you maybe want to stay at my place?" I smiled at him. "Or not. You can do whatever you want."
"Liam, calm down." I laughed. "I would love to." I loved how he could go from the smooth guy that everyone fell for, to the nervous guy that I fell for.
"Thanks." he smiled.

Liam's POV:

I didn't know what it was. I was always the guy that could invite a girl to stay the night no problem. But something about Maggie just made me melt a bit inside. You'd think we'd hate eachother, having nothing in common. But I just had to be close to her. When I wasn't, I worried. When I was, everything that I cared about just all went to her. I just couldn't explain it.
After dinner, we got to my flat. "This place is amazing." she said as I cut on the light.
I laughed at how amazed she was. I loved how she lit up around me. She turned around to face me, I leaned in and kissed her. I wrapped my arms around her waist, and she clung on to my neck. I moved us closer to the bedroom door as I deepened the kiss.

My POV:

We entered a dark room, which I figured was his bedroom because he set me down on a soft bed. Taking off his shirt, he licked my bottom lip, and grabbed the back of my theigh, putting his legs on both sides of me. I let him slip his tounge in my mouth, and he let out a low moan. He unzipped the back of my dress, leaving me in my underwear. We scooted back in the bed so that he was hovering above me. He looked at me, his breathing getting heavier, as with mine. He kissed me, and made his way down to my neck. He made his way down, all the way to my underwear. He looked at me, again and saw in my eyes how nervous I was. He smiled and began to take off my underwear. Chills ran through my body as he pushed his finger in and out of me, increasing speed. His tounge entered, swirling around a bit. "Liam" I quietly moaned. I began groaning in pleasure. I let out one last moan as he made his way back to my lips. He rolled off of me, as I caught my breath. He got off of the bed, and took off his jeans.
He laughed a bit. "These yours?" he snickered holding up my underwear.
I heald out my hand, almost falling off of the bed. I stuck my tounge out at him as he handed them to me. "Turn around." I directed.
He did as I said, and I slipped on my panties. I got back in the bed, and made sure I was covered before letting him turn back. "Do you wanna scoot, or do you want me to like, sleep on the couch?" he asked.
I patted the bed spot next to me in answer. He smiled and climbed in, grabbing my waist and pulling me close to him. He was really warm.
"Your hands are cold." he smiled. I quickly pulled them away, but he grabbed them. "No, I love your touch."
I blushed, which made him laugh. He kissed my forehead, and we fell asleep.

.........

I woke up the next morning facing Liam. He was sleeping, so I poked his face in attempt to wake him up. It didn't work, so I did it again, I giggled at how vulnerable he looked. I poked his nose, "Boop." I quietly said to myself trying not to laugh. I ran my fingers through his hair, and he grunted. I quickly put my hand down, before making sure he was still asleep. Once I knew he was, I began poking his face, and just randomly pinching parts. It was really cute how he would flinch slightly when I did. I closed my eyes to help myself from laughing. When I opened them Liam was staring at me weirdly.
"You having fun there?"
"I.. Yeah, sorta." I giggled.
He started laughing. I tried to sit up, but Liam pulled me back down. "Stay here." he whispered in my ear.
I cuddled with him for a while, just thinking about how things were going to work out. "Hey, what time is it?" I asked breaking the silence.
He looked behind him, at an alarm clock on a bedside table. "8:00 a.m." he answered.
"Kay thanks."
"You think Harry's awake?"
"Psh, okay."
He laughed. it was quiet for a while.
"Li."
"What?" he asked.
"Your new nickname is Li."
He laughed. "Sounds a bit weird."
"And Mags doesn't?"
"Good point." he said playing with my fingers. "Do you wanna go get some breakfast?"
"Sure."
He got up, "Hold on a second." he said heading towards his drawers. He opened a drawer and pulled out a long gray shirt. He walked over and handed the shirt to me. "Here you go."
"Thanks." I said taking it, and putting it on. I stood up and the shirt barely came down to my theighs.
"Yeah, seems good enough." he said examining me.
"Very funny." I said. He turned around and handed me some sweat pants. "Thank you very much."
"You could still wear the shirt, I could put the pants back." he smiled. I rolled my eyes at him. "Come on." he said exiting the room. I followed him out, and we headed into the kitchen. "So, what do you want?"
"Um, I don't know. Do you have pancake batter?" he nodded. "Yay! You get to experience my terrible cooking!" I said jumping up and down. He laughed.
"I'll make the baccon." he said.
We started making the food. I thought it would be fun to listen to some music, so I got my iphone out of my purse in the other room and started with some Queen songs on his dock. Which no one under the age of 38 listens to. I put on Somebody To Love, and started mixing the batter. Liam looked at me weirdly. He sighed, and went to my iphone. He searched around in my music.
"Do you have anything from the 21st century on this thing?" he asked me looking for something.
"Uh.. I guess not. Wait no, I have Michael Buble!"
He sighed. "Mags, first thing I get you is itunes music."
I laughed. "I like old music."
"Oh gosh, I can't listen to this anymore. I'll be right back." he said going in the other room. He came back, with his iphone, and took mine off of the dock and put his on. He played a Justin Timberlake song, and came back to cook. "Much, much better." he nudged me.
"Hey, don't hate. Don't hate." I said stirring. He laughed and started dancing along to the music.
I started shaking my head at him, continuing with the bowl. He came up behind me, and grabbed my arms. "Dance." he whined.
"I'm cooking." I giggled.
He grabbed my fingers and made them let go of the bowl. I stated laughing as he spun me around and grabbed my waist with one hand and held my hand up so that we were in the tango position. "You're a terrible dancer." he laughed.
"Bcause I'm tired." I rolled my head back. He saw it as an oportunity and nuzzled my neck. I giggled, and he dug his head in the crook of my neck as we slowly moved back and forth. "Stand on my feet." he comanded softly into my ear.
I smiled, and did as he said. He led me around the kitchen to an old song that began to play. I closed my eyes, and put my head in his neck, and just relaxed for once.
"You're a falling star. You're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.
And you play it coy, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you."
Liam began to sing along to it.
"And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times.
It's you, it's you. You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything."
He sung in my ear softly as he led. The song ended, and we were just moving back and forth silently just listening to eachother's hearbeats. Just the perfect moment. But Liam's phone rang causing the sound to blast through the kitchen. He moved away and answered it. "It's Harry." he said as he answered it. "Hello?"
I couldn't quite make out what he was saying, but I heard Kate's same. "What's he saying?" I asked a bit worried.
He hung up the phone. "We have to go. Like now." he said heading into the bedroom.
I followed him in the room. "Why, what's happening?"
"Harry messed up." he said grabbing my stuff.
"Like how?"
"I'll tell you in the car, we just have to get you out of here." he said.
"O-okay. Do you want me to change?"
"Uh," he looked at me, then the dress he was holding. "No, just hurry, we have to go."
We gathered my stuff and got in his car. He quickly started it. "Are you going to tell me what the hell is going on?" I asked worried.
"Harry said that Kate went to your house and found him there. She asked where you were and he accidentally told her she would find you here." he stated. "So now she's on her way to my house. We have to get you over to your place and in your bed and me back at my flat before she sees that both of us our missing." he looked at me, and saw a worried face. "We should probably tell her soon."
"Oh really?" I said sarcsastically.
"Well sorry! I feel horrible, I never wanted this to happen. I mean, you're lieing to your best friend."
"Liam, this isn't your fault. I'm part of it too, and I wouldn't have done it if I didn't really like you."
He smiled. "You really like me?"
"Yeah."
"Kay." he flushed a bit.
"Now drive, boy. Drive!"
"Okay okay." he said still smiling. He gripped the wheel tighter as he increased his speed.
"Dude, don't get pulled over." I warned.
"Sorry. We're just almost there." he said.
"Calm down Li, we're going to be fine."
"I know I know. Just, you know." he said. I laughed a bit. "Quit laughing, I'm nervous." he smiled.
We got to the house and Harry was waiting outside for us. We ran inside. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry." Harry said following us inside.
"It's fine Harry, really. We just have to get Liam out of here and back to his flat." I said heading into my room.
"Mags, calm down. You're fine." Liam said grabbing my hand.
I smiled. "Thanks." I said. He kissed me, "I'll call you later okay?"
"Yeah." I smiled. He left, and Harry and I were left in the flat.
"Should I go?"
"Yeah, I'll interrigate you later." I said.
He sighed. "Alright." he said. He exited, and I colapsed on my bed, trying to proccess everything that was happening.
........

We managed to not get caught. Liam called my later that day and told me that he got to his flat in time to make it look like he never left. A couple of days later it was Friday. Kate texted me when I got home from school after pretty much ignoring me all day in school.
Kate: Hey, you there?
Me: Yeah, just doing homework for once.
Kate: Ha, nice. I was just on the phone with Liam. It seems he's getting more and more distant, and it's sort of freaking me out.
Me: Well, you know guys, they need their space.
Kate: Yeah, I guess you're right.. Are you hiding anything from me?
Me: No. Why do you keep asking me that?
Kate: Because both of you keep acting suspicious lately and I know that I can ask you because I know I can trust you to tell me the truth when I need it.
I couldn't handle it. I had to tell her the truth, and fast.
Me: I need you to meet me at around 8 tonight here at my place.
Kate: Why?
Me: Just do it, it's something important.
Kate: Okay?
Me: I'll see you then, I have to go do something.
Kate: Okay, bye.
I took a deep breath, and called Liam. I told him to come over to my house because I had to talk to him.

.........

"You what?" he almost yelled pacing back and forth in my living room.
"I told her that I had something important to tell her. I know it was a bad idea-"
"Really?" he sarcastically said back.
"But! But I had to do it. She's my best friend, this was just chewing me up inside. I can't eat, or sleep or much of anything anymore without thinking about it. I'm so sorry Liam." I said digging my face in my hands.
He stopped walking and came over to me and sat down. He wrapped his arms around me protectively. "It's going to be okay Mags. We'll tell her, and she'll be fine with it, because she knows that her best friend is happy."
"No, she's going to overreact and hate us both. Especially me."
"That's not true. She'll understand that both of us did it because we really cared about eachother." he comforted me.
I clung my arms around his neck, and rested my head on his shoulder. That seemed to be the only thing that could calm me down these days. "I'm going to hell." I whispered almost in a laugh.
"No your not. People make mistakes."
"But it doesn't feel like a mistake. I felt like the happiest person in the world."
"There's nothing wrong with that."
"There is when you're about to destroy your best friend's relationship."
"Don't think of it like that. Think of it as you making both of us happy, with the small price of Kate being a bit angry."
"She's going to be more than a bit angry."
"But if she sees how good we are together, she'll forgive us both." he said hugging me tighter as if he didn't even believe the words as they came out. "If she sees how much we love eachother."
I smiled, and pulled back so I could see his face. "You love me?"
"Yeah, I do." he smirked.
"I love you too Li." I said kissing him. He hugged me, and we layed down on the couch, staring at eachother. I didn't realize how long it had been until I heard my doorbell ring. I knew exactly who it was. We got up, and opened the door together. I could tell Kate was stunned at the sight of us together in my flat alone. I gestured inside. "Come in."
She went in, and sat down on the couch. "What's going on?" she asked.
"We have something to tell you." Liam stated.
"But before we do, we just want to tell you that we never meant to hurt you in any way, shape, or form. I love you like a sister, and I know Li would never try to do anyhting to make you feel bad or things to that effect." I jumbled out.
"Maggie, what's going on?"
"Uh. Well, Liam and I have been, going out with eachother."
She looked absolutely fazed, "How long?"
"We wanted to tell you sooner bu-" Liam was cut off by Kate standing up in fury.
"How long have you two been going bahind my back?!" she screamed.
"Since the day at the pizza place." he answered.
"And you just kept this from me?"
"We didn't know how you were going to react, and we never thought it would go this far. Once we found how much we loved being together, we knew we had to tell you." he said entertwining our fingers.
"You can't just do that! Go behind my back with my best friend!" she yelled at him.
"It's not just him Kate, I did it too! I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think it was the best thing for everyone!" I defended.
"The best thing for you two! You never even took in consideration of how this would affect me at all!"
"That's not true! We wouldn't have told you then!"
"So you just decided to wait. Knowing how much I liked him!" I saw tears form in her eyes, which made me start.
"It wasn't like that! I wanted to tell you multiple times, I just could never do it."
"I don't want to hear it." she said heading to the door.
"Kate, I'm sorry!" I yelled trying to stop her by grabbing her arm, letting go of Liam.
"No, you're not." she said not turning around to look at me. "Just, leave me alone." she said getting out of my grip and walking out of the door.
I colapsed on the floor, sobbing. Liam came over, sat on the floor and pulled me in close to him. "Shh, it's okay." he said stroking my hair trying to comfort me. "She'll be okay, trust me." he whispered still with the sign of worry in his voice.
We stayed on the floor for what felt like eternity. I didn't know I fell asleep, until I woke up in my bed, facing Liam the next morning. I smiled at him, he was sleeping. My smiled soon faded though when pictures of the night before came flashing back in my memory.
I woke Liam up, and we had breakfast with Harry, because he came over to tell us that Kate spent the night at his house and he wanted to know our side of the story. The rest of the day, I spent with Liam, because he "wasn't going to leave me alone sad" which I loved, but hated because I always like being alone when I'm sad.

........

A month had passed. I was still with Liam, but hadn't seen Kate since that night.
I was walking around in my favourite store at the mall, when I bumped into someone, dropping both of our bags. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorr-" I stopped.
She looked at me with the same exact expression. "Um, sorry." she spoke.
"Hey, Kate." I said picking up her bag and handing it to her.
"Hi."
"How, are things?"
"Uh, really good. You?"
"Same. Seeing anyone lately?" I asked.
She smiled at the question. "Yeah actually. His name's Zayn. I met him a few weeks ago. He's really nice." I smiled to see her happy again. I didn't care what happened between us, she was my best friend and I loved that she found someone that made her as happy as Liam made me. "So, what about you? Still with Liam?"
"Yeah," I smiled. "Happy as ever.."
"That's good." I heard it in her voice, she cared.
"Hay Kate!" I heard a voice yell from behind her. "I found this cool store!"
"Yeah, one second!" she said back at him.
"Is that Zayn?" I asked her looking at the tall man in the distance.
"Yeah." she said looking down at her bags.
"I'm really glad you're happy, Katie Kat." I smiled at her.
She laughed a bit. "Thank you. Same with you, Mags."
I laughed, trying to hold back the tears that were begining to form in my eyes. "You'd better get to him. I'll see you around."
"Yeah. Definately." she said. With that, we turned and went our ways.
I got home later that day. I sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. I was relaxing, watching Toy Story when I felt my phone vibrate. I unlocked the screen and saw this:
Kate: Hey.
