Picture Book. Girl Empowerment. Superheros.

Anna, Jasmine, Haley and Taylor, are very bored.
On sunny days, the girls usually could not wait to go out for recess, but today was different.
They had ran through all of their recess games.
On Monday's recess, the girls had skipped rope.
On Tuesday, they had played house.
On Wednesday's recess, they had played spy Detective.
Now, that it was Thursday's recess, they were out of ideas.
So, they decided, to ask the boys for recess ideas.
Only, right after asking, they wish they had never mentioned it.
The girls knew, that the boys had found the coolest game for recess, but the boys would not let the girls play.
The boys had told them, that girls can not be superheroes.
Anna cried, "That's not true! What about Wonder Woman?"
The boys laughed, "Wonder Woman is not cool. Girls just can't be superheroes."
Now, the girls were just plain mad.
They knew that girls could do anything that boys could do, and they were going to prove it.
When Friday's recess came, the girls were ready.
Each had spent special time getting their superhero costumes ready.
No boy, was going to tell the girls what they could not do.
The girls stood in front of the boys, and waited for the boys to see how cool they were.
To their disappointment, all the boys did was point and laugh.
The girls were sad, that their costumes did not go over well.
After recess, things in class did not seem to go over well either.
When the other girls in the class, had heard how mean the boys were to their friends the classroom became divided.
It was an all out war, between the boys and the girls.
The boys laughed, "Just because, the girls dressed up as superheroes, does not mean they are superheroes. They have no cool powers, or cool names for themselves."
The children's Teacher, had to see what the argument was about.
She took Anna and her friends into the hall.
"Girls what is the problem?" The Teacher asked nicely.
Taylor cried, "The boys said we can't be superheroes, because we are girls."
The Teacher shook her head, "That is just not true, what about Wonder Woman?"
"That is what I said." Anna said loudly.
A small amount of time, had went by.
The children in the class, had wondered where their Teacher and their friends had went.
The class had began talking loudly, when their Teacher came back into the room.
"Children, I have to show you the most wonderful thing. Follow me."
The children, were excited to go on a mini field trip.
They had almost forgot, that their friends were missing.
When Teacher, had finished leading the children they were in the auditorium.
"I had heard, that it was said that girls cannot be superheroes. I have brought you children here to prove this wrong. You see, there is a secret to being a superhero. Since, I am here to prove a rumor wrong, I have made: Anna, Taylor, Haley and Jasmine into superheroes."
A boy in the class, spoke out. "Teacher, I'm sorry, but girls just cannot be superheroes."
"Wait and see, for yourself." Teachers said with a smile.
After all of the children were seated, and waiting Anna came onto the stage.
"From, the superheroes of class 103, we wanted to thank our wonderful teacher, for making our superhero dreams come true. Now enjoy, the show."
"Hi guys, did I miss anything?" Taylor said as she sat behind the class.
The boys of room 103 became outraged, "How did you get there without any of us seeing you?"
Taylor smiled, "Teacher gave me the powers of speed. My new name is Bolt. You better stare at the stage."
The children of room 103, whipped their heads around, wondering what they would see next.
When they turned their heads back to his stage, they saw Jasmine making it snow inside.
Teacher smiled as she saw all of the boys in the room staring amazement.
"How did you do that?"
Jasmine giggled, "Teacher. My new name is, Ice. If you think, my power is cool you better check out Haley she's against the wall."
The kid turned their heads yet again, the once pale light wall on the other side of the room, now began to have a shape in front of it.
"My power, is really cool too. They call me, Streak. I have the power, to blend in to any object. Teacher is the coolest. You should look up, if you want to see Anna." Haley pointed to the sky.
With an upward swoop, the heads of the class shot up at once.
Above their heads, their once normal classmate was now flying.
The boys in the room, could not contain their excitement.
"Cool!"
Anna glided, across the room like a bird.
Finally, she landed back on the stage.
"Before you ask me, Teacher gave me my power. I will agree, to let the boys give me my superhero name, if they agree girls can be superheroes too."
The boys in the room clapped.
Teacher, Anna, Haley, Jasmine and Taylor, all knew they had proved their point.
"What should my name be?" Anna asked.
"Glide." Said Ralphie.
Phil shouted, "Hawk."
"Echo." Suggested Lewis.
Teacher spoke loudly, "What do you guys think about, Air? Since, she can fly."
The kids in the class agreed.
At the end of the day, Teacher had taken many request from the boys, wanting to be superheroes.
Teacher told the kids, she would think about it if they did their math homework.
As for; Air, Streak, Ice and Bolt, they went home for the weekend knowing their recesses would never be boring again.
