Wall

I've been building up a wall

So that you might let me be

And every brick that I lay down

Is one between you and me



My constant pace chaps my hands

And  rough edges draw up blood

But I'm pressed to continue

So I spackle them with mud



Mud, this lifeblood of mortar

I pray that it quickly dries

Cause you tear down my structure

Much quicker than it can rise
