A dark interpretation of changing the path of ones life and taking a leap of faith.
This wasn't part of the plan,
But I couldn't resist.
The look on his face,
And the dagger so near.
It slid into his neck,
So soft,
So smooth,
That I cut my hand on the other side.
His life poured out on to my naked breasts,
And coated both of us in some sort of sick, final union.
The chains pull taught as I try to sit on the edge of the bed,
Trying to stay away from the red flood pouring from his neck.
Now I sit and wait for the plan.
Yes, the plan.
My friend the guard comes after he is asleep.
Guard sets me free
And we run away from this horrid place.
I don't even know his name,
But I think I love him.
That look he would give me when he would take off my chains.
The kind words he would say.
How he would comfort me in my cage,
Even risking being beat himself.
A man that would take lashes for me,
There cannot be anyone better.
The door opens,
I hear his voice.
For a moment I forget that I am covered in blood.
The guard runs to me,
Unlocks my chains,
And asks me if I am ok.
Then he looks at the dagger,
And then at me.

This wasn't part of the plan.
Before another word could be spoken,
He gives me some clothes he had found
And we run away from that horrid room.
We are in the woods now,
The compound is disapearing into the forest.
An alarm sounds and we can hear shouting now.
The guard quickens his pace,
Nearly ripping my arm out of its socket,
Dragging me to safety.
Up ahead is a cliff,
And a bridge that leads to freedom.
We reach the cliff,
But there is no bridge.
The rope has failed it,
And it lays flat on the other side.
From behind the yelling gets louder.
Down the cliff the river rages.
Trapped.

This wasn't part of the plan.
I look into the guard's green eyes
And I ask him his name.
"Steve" he says as a bullet whizzes by
And hits a tree nearby.
"Steve," I ask.
"Do you want me forever?"
Before he has a chance to answer
I throw my body onto him
And our lips lock into a kiss.
We begin to fall,
Embracing one another,
Getting closer and closer to the raging waters.
Will we survive?
I don't know.
Where will we go if we do?
I don't know.
This wasn't part of the plan.
