A brief description of the main character Antagonists of Heresy: The Book of Mammon
Antagonist Profile

Arbiter Celestine

Celestine in Apostosy: The Book of Ithaca, was a cardinal, and the ruling head of the Hereticus Administratum as well as the ritual advisor of the Priory. Following the close of the first book, several changes took place in Ecclesia. The Arbiter had named the Executors as Heretics and forced them into exile. Though it ultimately saved their lives, it was not done in good intentions.

Celestine had desired the deaths of his Expurgators, as they were becoming a liability to the Priory's plans for Azaal's return. Following the teachings of Peregrine, a demonologist, they desired to control the daemons and reclaim the powers that had been stolen from man. The early awakening of Azaal's sons had changed his strategies and the Priory's. Celestine had concluded that in order to contain the daemons, their hosts had to be killed.

The former arbiter had spared them the wrath of the curch and forced them into exile to the sovereignty of Lokken. Once Celestine had discovered this blunder, he had the arbiter assassinated, and the Priory elected him to take his place. Fearing the wrath of Azaal's sons, he has commanded that a crusade be launched against Lokken not only for eliminating the Expurgators, but for recovering the Scriptures of the Black Sacrament. The scriptures are excerpts of the true history of man written by the eight sons of Azaal, as well as Peymon, the daemon master of rituals, Peregrine the demonologist, Azazel the herald, and Astarte. He desires this book due to the vast knowledge of the daemonic worlds that Peregrine possessed. His writings could be the key to controlling the forces of Hell.

Since Celestine's rise to power, Ecclesia has boomed with industry and the great pestilence had been stopped. As such, Ecclesia's denizens adore the man. Celestine still wears the scarlet Cassock that he wore as inquisitor, though because of his methods, it now displays his bloody natures.

Baalberith

Baalberith is a relatively unknown daemon from Hell. In the scriptures, it is mentioned that he betrayed his master's wishes and came unto man to aid them in their rise to power. He was banished from hell and forced to live among the people of Arlia. As time passed, the people had forgotten their history and his aid. Superstitions became very prominent and once he was discovered, his flesh was mutilated and he was tortured by the hands of his former allies. He now desires vengeance for what was done to him, not only on Azaal, but on the world of men.
