A description on the denizens of Lokken. |
The Ecclesians refer to Lokken's denizens as Wytches. This is not to be mistaken with witches, as they do not practice witchcraft, demonology, invocation, divination, or any other such practice. Wytches themselves are simply of a different set of religious beliefs than the Divinity. As such, they are labeled as heretics and the Ecclesiarchy's enemies. Seven years prior to the story in Heresy: The Book of Mammon, the Wythces predicted that the Arbiter Lysander, XIII would be assassinated. It came to pass, and his successor declared that the Wytches had caused his death. It has been since then, that Wytches are an unwelcome group of people in Ecclesia, and have since fled to their homelands of Lokken. In terms of beliefs, Wytches follow a very radical set of beliefs in comparison to Ecclesia. The Wytches believe that the world and the heavens were not created by a god, but by daemons. They do not enforce religious application unto their populace, as they have little to worship. Daemons being evil creatures, they find no benevolance, or comfort in their creators. Lokken itself is a highly militaristic Sovereignty, though its citizens are not under any totalitarian rule, rather they rule as a collective. Each Patriarch of a city meets in council to determine the application of laws in a particular region, and in the sovereignty as a whole. There is no ruling executive stating the application of laws in the nation, mainly, a body of many prominent citizens that meet and determine a logical course of action. Lokken's laws are quite lenient in terms of what one can and can't do. As the sovereignty itself mainly strives for a common goal, its citizens are far beyond the moral downfalls of other outlying sovereinties. Most of its citizens function for the study of sciences, mathematics, and medicine, and the application of their studies. As such, Lokken is a far more advanced sovereignty than its neighbors. |
