Alien Shampoo

Daria woke up to a loud noise outside her window. It was the middle of the night and a light shone so bright that one would think it was daylight. She grabbed her robe, slipped into her slippers and headed outside to see what all the commotion was about.

When she opened her front door, a light so bright blinded her. She quickly closed the door, felt around her living room for the sofa, and sat down. After a few moments her sight returned and she quickly ran to her bedroom. She peeped out of her window only to see that everything looked normal. Daria couldn’t understand what that loud noise and that strong light that blinded her was about. She rubbed her eyes, shook her head and looked outside once again. The trees were swaying, the leaves were rustling, but there was nothing unusual going on.

She lied in her bed until morning and then headed for the bathroom for a shower. She turned on the water, disrobed, and stepped into the tub. Her thoughts were confusing and scary so she figured a nice hot shower would calm her down. When she reached for the shower gel and held it in her hand, it felt heavier than usual. She poured the gel on top of her head and paid the heaviness of the bottle no mind. As she lathered her hair up, she felt a strong tingling sensation. It became stronger and stronger and then it stopped. Again, she paid the tingling no mind and continued to shampoo her hair. She reached for a towel, tied it around her head and then stepped out of the tub. Daria normally air dried her body so she stood dripping wet while drying her hair. When she removed the towel she got the shock of her life. There were tiny little beings that looked like miniature humans dancing, singing, and playing instruments. It was as if they were having one big party on her head. There had to be at least of one hundred of them singing and dancing away. One tiny man was playing the drums, another was strumming a guitar, and there were dancers and singers partying hard. She looked closely into the mirror and screamed. Her only explanation was that they got into the house when she opened the door. The little beings seemed to disappear when they heard the scream and that’s when she fainted.

When Daria woke up she was in her bed. She couldn’t understand how she got there. The last thing she remembered was that she was in her bathroom. As she sat up, she began to slowly touch her hair. There was nothing unusual there. She walked over to the mirror and started parting her hair with a comb while looking for the beings. They were all gone. Her new explanation was that she had a bad dream and none of what she encountered was real.

Daria showered, got dressed, combed her hair and headed for the kitchen. She put on the coffee pot and headed back into the bedroom. She picked up her comb only to find those same beings partying on her comb. She looked in the mirror, looked back at the comb and fainted. She woke up in a sanitarium. Her mom had come by and found her on the floor. She woke up briefly to tell her mom about her encounter and then fainted again. Mom thought it best that she seek psychiatric help.

Daria swears that she saw the aliens in her hair and on her comb because of the shampoo that she used. She remains in the hospital until the doctors can convince her otherwise.
