Raw and easy
Never too sleazy
A fine line
In the shifting sand
Adhered to by me
A moral compass
That only points
In one viable direction
Each day
In every possible way
I take the next step
Written on my forehead
In reverse are the words
Forwards, never backwards
I am no longer afraid
No longer concerned
Poems crafted
Organized madness
Such a mixed bag
Of sheer brilliance
And unparalleled ignorance
Astonishing myself
Has become quite easy
That being said
It is still an infinitely
Impossible challenge
To get each well placed
Word to the right home
Facing fear each day
I take calculated risks
Writing for me
Is raw and easy
Little effort is forced
Like tap water
Turned on from the source
Until it is shut off it will flow
Some might see me
As a real chest bolstering
Son of a bitch
A man who lives to complain
A man who lives to point out
The obvious nature of existence
I am part puppet show
And all car accident
You know that you wanna look
Even if death and dismemberment
Are the end result
You care nothing of me as a person
And truthfully you shouldn’t
Because I care nothing of myself
I am only concerned with these words
They are my absolute burden
I know that I will never be free
Of not only what was meant
But what was interpreted
Raw and easy
Hides what was before
When my life was not defined
With such meaning and purpose
Long before now was darkness
Pain and mountains of shame
I had to break through
Climb over and destroy
Just to get where it is I am
Not as simple as I wish
The reality of my past
Unlike these words
Has never been anything
But incredibly difficult…
