I once loved a girl, then one day she walked away, I have remained ever since.

Where have you been
Forever you have been gone
Far too long I have sung our song
Upon silence each note has soared
Such empty words mean nothing
Yet here I continually am
In this place that I have always been
Waiting, wanting, wondering
Will you ever be coming back
Will you ever be mine again
Certainly I know the answer
But such an answer I refuse
I decide, and I alone choose
I won’t accept the end
Of all that you and I had
And the end of all that I am
How could I ever dare
I need you in impossible ways
I live for your vacant stare
I breathe for the touch of your skin
Your words ring true in my heart
Ignition for the very spark
That continually fires my life
My mind, callous and sometimes cold
Many would say far beyond control
An epicenter of knowledge
With no defined category of understanding
I only know small fragments of everything
By themselves, quite meaningless
I have yet to find a way
To put all the pieces in their place
I have yet to find a way
To make sense of all that I know
My ideas, turned words, made poems
Written for you as well as others
So inclined I hope both of you become
Find me here, find me near
I have not moved from the place
That you left me
How could I ever even dare
I have lived every day since
Afraid that if you were to come back
I would not be here
Contained in a prison with no walls or bars
I am a condemned man by his heart
Where have you been
Forever you have been gone
Far too long I have sung our song
Upon silence each note has soared
Such empty words mean nothing
May you forget me is what you said
The last time I ever saw you
I wish I could, I wish I would
But sadly my truest of love
There is no greater impossibility
I have to believe against the odds
That someday you may hear me
That someday you may change your mind
Finding your way back to me
And my inability to change
I love you is an understatement
Such a word that does not come close
To what I feel for you
May you forget me is what you said
Impossible both now and then
Is what I will continue to express…
