A twisted poem from the depths of my mind about flesh and pain and finding a way free.

Flesh and pain
One and the same
Skin and bones
A castle turned
Into a broken home
All that remains
Tedious shame
Represented as doors
Locked up tight
There is no key
Just a repeating dream
Of what is beyond
Out there in a place
That will have no part of me
Flesh and pain
Hatred for myself
And at times
Everyone and everything else
I must suffer as I do
As God’s sees fit
Part of my truth
The liar in me
Calls it all a lie
Not so cleverly told
Blatant and without regard
I am part of a masterful plan
Turned upon its head
Ridiculous in every detail
Vindictively violent
And beautifully apparent
The child in me cries
As the man in me stands tall
Resiliently defiant I speak
Further I wish to scream
Unknown father above
Stranger well known
Way beyond the clouds
Way beyond the sun
Give me a break
A desperately needed better way
A chance to breathe
Allow me to escape
This place and in turn
My flesh and pain
Will be lifted away
Revealing the truth
Of what is beneath
And what is beyond
All that I’ve ever known
And all that I’ve ever been shown...
