A weird poem about the breaking day and the darkness that is coming next.

Here comes the sun
Burning bright
Wondrous delight
A life giving and saving
Deity of my choosing
Under it I boldly stand
Screaming I am a man
A beast of a being
Still doing what he can
What I am sure that I must
Worshiping you and your light
Burdened by my plight
Struggling with reality
Fighting the duality
Of the light that you give
And darkness that comes next
Each dawn you come
Rising like a phoenix in my eye
Each night you are quick to escape
Falling like a stone into the unknown
How I wish I could do the same
But when the darkness comes
Here I am forced to remain
Surviving the shifting madness
Facing my terrible demons
Creatures of past experiences
That visit me when I close my eyes
I fight to disobey the hands of time
But sleep always claims me true
In my sleep I scream for the day
To come back my perilous way
Allowing me to escape from
That which I see in my dreams
A series of ever-widening nightmares
Of unparalleled scope and detail
Breaking day is my only escape
The only way that I can breathe
The only way that I can resist
When the sun comes
I know that it will be ok
At least for the day to be faced
But I also know that the night
Will be coming back again
And with it the darkness of sleep
Which brings nightmares of creatures
That I will never be free of
Breaking day is my salvation
And my absolute damnation
Because like everything else it will end
Leaving me screaming for the next rise
Leaving me fearing the next decline…
