Stanley Grammer's Oscar winning movie, "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" was written in 1967 after the Supreme Court decision to legalize interracial marriage throughout the country. The majority of Americans in 1967 did not want interracial marriages. Such controversial issues like non-discrimination in hiring and education and public drinking fountains had to be addressed in the courts, since the majority of most Americans were racist. The polls were clearly drawn along racial lines. Most white people wanted non-whites to stay in the back of the buss. Today CNN has a poll on interracial marriages that shows they are up by 35%, but only 37% of Americans surveyed think its a good idea. Why? Because Americans are racist, some are tolerant of non-whites, others are violently opposed to interracial couples. The statistical report on race related crime is on the rise. Why? Well, when an economy collapses the majority looks for a skapegoat. For example, in NAZI Germany non-ethic Germans were rounded up and imprisoned in work camps. They were labeled, "A cultural threat" to the German National Security. American history records at that time Japanese Americans were labeled a threat, because of their culture and sent to work camps in the United States of America. Do you see a pattern here? It can be predicted, therefore, that Arab Americans will face a similar fate in the United States of America, if the Supreme Court allows the majority to rule. America is at war with Islamic Extremist, who like the suicide bombers of Perl Harbor, have allies in the United States of America. "The terrorist attack on the World Trade Center will never be forgotten." (President George Bush' speech at ground zero.) I'll never forget landing in Tel Aviv on 9/11. I was on a pilgrimage. I wanted to see where Jesus lived. I'm not a Christian. My Palestinian Christian guide told me what had happened and I said, "Did the Russians do it?" I thought it was WWIII. Ramone smiled and said, "It was Muslims. Now you know what we are dealing with. They are a cancer. Now, it will be open season on Palestinians." I looked at Ramone with a blank expression, "Now, it is open season on Arabs." I know how Americans think. I don't need a poll to tell me they want blood. But, there is also a unique character in American culture that excepts the immigrant after they have proven themselves. That is the American dream 360%. |
