Take my weapon
My brand new gun
An instrument of death
Unused
Never loaded
Never fired in anger
Never fired for fun
Dare not be afraid
Of the explosive nature of it ways
Such a machine only does
What the user demands
No target
Or fellow human being
Has even met their doom
Under the capable weight
It brings into any situation
Take my weapon
Load a single bullet
Just one, that is all
That will be needed
One piece of lead
One projectile of ends
Right through my heart
Right through my head
The means to my death
Concern me least of all
I would not ask you
For such a thing
If I had the strength
The iron gut
To do it myself
But I do not
Not because of fear
Not because of uncertainty
But because I might miss
Because I might live
I know what comes next
For people driven to such ends
I will take my punishment
It will be a much needed
Permanent vacation from living
Each passing second of life
Seems like an eternity
I am quickly becoming weak
To broken and fragile
To raise it my head
Or place it to my heart
Take my weapon
Load one bullet
Unless of course
You need one for yourself
I will not judge
How could I ever
But if such an endeavor
Is what you wish
Please
Be sure to kill me first
Place the cold barrel
Against my skin
Cock the hammer
Fire without mercy
I will never hear the bang
I will never know the pain
If done right
Death will be instant
Certainly there will be a mess
My corpse, my blood
My brains, my guts
All that was once me
Will be nothing more
Than a biological stain
Such a thing is just fine
Leave me dead in place
Others in time will come this way
They will find me
Right where you left me
They will clean up the mess
Clever lies they will write
An unsolved mystery will be started
And will forever remain
As long as you
Turn and walk away
I will not tell
Because the dead cannot speak
In silence I will always keep
In death I will have my relief…
