Ron's brother is missing and he'll have to find him quickly or else. |
The mist was rising just to my waist. This wouldn’t be too unusual; but it was emitting a very faint purple glow. Now in most circumstances I would not be in this strange situation, but my brother Nathan had went outside to get his dog Walker; I followed to ensure his safety. I wish he had waited for me to put on my shoes, because no matter how hard I looked I couldn’t see him or Walker. “Nathan!” I shouted, I waited for a response...nothing. “Walker!”...not even a bark, I was afraid he was lost in the fog. Wandering further from the house I kept shouting. The further I went the stronger the glow became, were could they have gone. Walker’s doghouse wasn’t this far. “NATHAN, ANSWER ME NOW OR I’M GOING IN.” Still no answer; I looked over my shoulder and the porch light was was becoming faint. There was a forest on the edge of the yard, Nathan was terrified to go this far without me. “Nathan, this isn’t funny, come on.” I whined; I decided to head back for a flashlight, “Ron...” a voice whimpered. “NATHAN, WHERE ARE YOU?” I cried...but there was no reply. Against my will I went further, the trees loomed over me like a group of angry giants. “Nathan, this is the last time; if you don’t tell me where you are right now I’m going back.” I threatened, “Ron....” was the response. It was almost unhearable, then Walker began to growl; followed by a whine of pain. “WHERE ARE YOU!!” I cried, “Here.” I turned to find Nathan’s body slumped against a tree; blood pouring from his mouth and eyes. Walker was in front of him or what was left of him. All I could make out was his collar amongst mangled flesh and bone. I screamed in terror and turned to run. But before me stood something, it’s body was neon yellow; if you could call it a body. It looked like some gorilla, if it had been skinned and left to rot. As it moved toward me it almost seemed to fade in and out. I wanted to cry out, but as I did an arm of some sort shot over my mouth. My screams muffled by something solid yet liquid. The being began forcing it’s way into my nostrils and mouth. My lungs began to expand and expand until I felt them burst. It removed it’s arm from my mouth. It stared at me as I gasped for air, choking on blood and tears. Before I died it approached me and stood directly in front of me. “Your body will be suitable for my purposes human.” a gurgling, slurping voice said. As I looked at Nathan the last thing I remembered was what sounded like a laugh. “Do not mourn that body...his mind was delicious. As I’m sure your’s will be too.” The End |
