This is a poem I just no wrote for a contest entry.
On 2004 April Seventeen
A rush of electricity, flowed right through me
It knocked out my breath, and dropped me to my knees
There on that altar, A light turned on, deep inside of me

HE, like a mighty rushing wind
Took the darkness, and became more than a friend
HE, with HIS GRACE covers me now as he did then
HE, with HIS LOVE gives me an expected end

The light radiates so deep and brightly
That even those, who called themselves my enemy
Find themselves confused, as they embrace me
With new found respect; the light is all they see

This deep and rich illuminating glow
Is what guides me through the valleys' dark shadow
As it reminds me, not long ago
I played the part vengeance, in the devils' sideshow

A puppet on a string, a dog on its' leash
Darkness, once upon a time, guided me
It was my guardian, and my necessity
he was my drug, and I was his junkie

Plainly put, sin and darkness made a slave
Locked away in his mind, like a bird in a cage
I was the main attraction, I was all the rage
Then, something happened, and I was no longer afraid

The LIGHT broke through and set this captive free
Took me to a cross, on a hill named CALVARY
Where I met the LIGHT, where HIS LOVE, GRACE AND MERCY
Wrapped me in HIS arms and completely rescued me

Now this light I carry deep inside, is so powerful and renown
Neither you or I have the power to shut it down
I carry HIM to the streets, up and downtown
Being mocked for my beliefs, I am more than happy to be his free clown

Because on 2004 April Seventeen
The SPIRIT of The Living GOD, flowed right through me
THE LIGHT broke through, and dropped me to my knees
HIS NAME, JESUS! And I love to carry him with me shining the light in the darkest of streets...
