i'm just a normal teen that have some experience on this topic I'm not an expert.
“Hey you’re fat!”
“OMG you are so not up to date!”
Do you get these kinds of statements?
I’m a teen myself and I know around this time, we pressure ourselves to impress others and to look good in front of our peers.
Usually we know what is wrong or right, It’s not like we’re dumb or anything but sometimes we do stupid stuffs in order to “fit in”.
And when we get those kinds of requests it’s hard to refuse and it’s tempting.
I mean they are your friends right? They won’t do anything to harm you. Wrong.

During teenage years, especially in Hong Kong, we don’t want to be different from the others, we don’t want to stand out so what do we do? We follow them. It could be good or bad but mostly bad. Like everyone is going to this party and they’re going to drink and do drugs, you don’t want to be left out so you do it.

I believe teenage years is about finding about yourself, your beliefs and making a social circle. But if we keep following the crowd, it’s not going to help much, is it?

Being yourself is hard thing to do for some, but when you just be yourself, I promise you’ll feel much better about yourself , you’ll feel happier than ever before and of course there are going to be some that people are going to be bitches and criticize, bully, tease you for not following the trend but remember no matter what you do you can’t please everyone.

It’s fine to be nervous about you showing the real you to your friends for the first time but if they are your friends then they should just accept you just the way you are.

I had the experience of being afraid of showing myself because I was a shy and sensitive kid and believe on everyone rather than myself. I tried really hard to fit in and in front of others, I tried to be different from my real self. I was afraid of how everyone are going to judge me. But I kind of didn’t fit in still but later on I became myself because I thought I have nothing else to lose right? So why not try to be myself for once.

It was the most courageous thing I have ever done at that time. But I was glad I did it.
I have found my “true” friends that accepted me and I felt happier.

No matter what anyone says, you are perfect just the way you are because you are you.
So **** everyone else and just be yourself.
(On the side note,I'm not an expert but please go easy on me!)
