A not-so-nice roller coaster ride.
Bite or sting, I cannot say for sure,
but it pained, and memories endure
even though so many years have passed.

O those roller coasters! See how fast
they plunge, clacking on the rails to send
thrills to riders even ‘round the bend!

We were not yet teens, one summer day,
going to Idora Park* to play--
roller coasters were the greatest thrill.

The park had two coasters on the bill;
we chose the Jack Rabbit first to ride
as we felt such excitement inside.

We were fearless, so we picked the first
coaster car to ride in, we had a thirst
for thrills, we were more than glad to lead.

Up to the top, then picking up speed
down the first hill as we lost our brain;
when all of a sudden, there was pain.

A nail in the pit of my tummy!
This ride just started, I felt crummy
and wanted to de-car, but was stuck.

One coaster ride that was an epoch;
doubled over, sick, with tears flowing
as the Jack Rabbit kept a-going.

After agonizing hill and turn,
it ended, I felt my stomach burn
as Michael helped me out of the car.

Locating a first-aid station far
at the other end, they treated me
for injury I think was a bee.

*Idora Park was an amusement park
of note in northeastern Ohio, now
long since gone.
