The Homeless On The Street Study the homeless and you will see They are not that different from you or me They come around asking for money And though many of us have plenty To spare in small change do we dare For it is common to think we must beware Of where they will spend what we give For we all know exactly how they live. They don't work, or help society, They live on the street far from sobriety. All they do is sleep, drink, smoke and do drugs Act out, steal and walk around like thugs. So they are not deserving of your small change They need to be told at close range “Go to work! No change for you!” Even though most of what we think is not true. For what I see is a person working hard To live out their days having been scarred From who knows what circumstance in their past, Now on the streets at last. How can you be so certain of what they do? Are you living with them too. Day in and day out, They are up and about. Living their lives as they see fit. And likely not very sure of it. So open up your minds, hearts, and wallets. To give to your fellow human beings and lets Be happy for this small victory, And take note of it in your good deeds inventory. |
