A morning offering of a humble servant |
Let me share with you again another beautiful hymn in LOH found on the 3rd Week Friday, Morning Prayer: LORD WHOSE LOVE IS HUMBLE SERVICE Lord, Whose love is humble service Bore the weight of human need, Who did on the Cross, forsakenm Show us mercy's perfect deed: We, your servants, bring the worship Not of voice alone but heart; Consecrating to your purpose Every gift which you impart. As we worship, grant us vision, Till your love's revealing light, Till the height and depth and greatness Dawns upon our human sight; Making known the needs and burdens Your compassion bids us bear, Stirring us to faithful service, Your abundant life to share. Called from worship into service Forth in your great name we go, To the child, the youth, the aged Love in living deeds to show. Hope and health, goodwill and comfort, Counsel, aid, and peace we give, That your children, Lord, in freedom, May your mercy know, and live. My LOH (Liturgy Of the Hours) has been my constant companion for more than a year now. Prayers in this book is more like a coffee in the morning that perks me up and align me with the blessing of the day, reminding me of my commitment to God. This hymn tells us the importance of consecrating our day starting in the morning as an offering, seeking for guidance, health and comfort. Our life how fruitful or miserable it maybe is abundant of one thing - TIME. And it is in our choosing, in our own free will on how to make full use of it. A life's work consecrated and dedicated to God is a plight destined to be full, satisfying and happy. And it should start daily with a prayer in humility surrendering ourselves in the power of the Almighty. |
