Another love poem.
On days like these
When I'm looking at you through these bars
And I know that I love you more than you love me
It starts to hurt in my heart
When I hear you sing

I'm afraid of you
And I love you
I know that I need you more than you ever could need me
So when I see that your eyes have drifted elsewhere
My heart grows anxious
And I fall deep, deep
Into insecurity

You are strong
I am weak
That's what makes it hard
When I see that I'm holding you back
But you are kind
And you never complain

I am mean
Selfish
I would never let you leave

I am sure that if you flew farther than a mile from me
My organs would cease to function
And I would die
Where I stand
But you
You would continue walking
And find another bird to love
And be happy

You would be happy
You would be perpetually happy
Had you never been chained to me

You are kind
But I am not

Sing again for me
Behind these bars you are not quite as beautiful
But at least you are mine.
