Reveiw of today's Pirates game.
Another day, another same old story for the Pirates. Once again the Pirates offense failed to help the starting pitching. Kevin Correia pitched a gem against the Dodgers only allowing one run in six innings pitched. Correia pitched just as well as reigning NL Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers. Jason Grilli gave up a homerun (which would be the game winner), with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to Dodgers Andre Ethier. Also it was Andre Ethier's birthday, what a way to celebrate your own birthday.

The Pirates batters have yet to really find their swing so far in this young season. Neil Walker has yet to find his stride we are all used to in the batters box. Although he isn't hitting, Walker's defense has been remarkable thus far this season. Including two highlight reel plays in today's game. Andrew McCutchen is starting to heat up, which is what we expected. McCutchen did show something today that did anger me just a bit. He hustled for a flyball, which he dropped. It was after he dropped it that upset me. He showed no urgency in getting the ball to second base. If he would have throen the ball with some authority the Pirates would have had an easy out at second base. Instead McCutchen basically tossed the ball into second, showing no urgency at all.

Erik Bedard gets the start for the Pirates tomorrow. Even though Bedard lost his first start this season, he sure didn't deserve it. Bedard has a 1.29 ERA which is best for all Pirates starting pitchers. If Bedard pitches like he did on opening day and the Pirates offense finally comes to life then the Pirates should surely win tomorrow nights game.

A look at tomorrows matchup. Pittsburgh Pirates (2-2 (1.50 team ERA) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (4-1 (3.13 team ERA).
