The fourth part of the Hidden series. |
The man. Engulfed by a sandstorm of shadow. It traps him within itself. He walks the desert of misery. He can no longer care, but still they are there; Solitude and Sorrow. The heat exhausts him to the brink of collapse, yet his will can carry him far beyond his body. The light has stopped, he has now reached it. Awed by the glow, he walks closer, yet as he tries to touch her, he hesitates. She disappears. In her place there is now an oasis. He drinks of the water, he eats of the fruit, yet nothing satisfies. He has another need. Exhaustion takes over at last. He falls into the fog of dreams. He sees the Light, then wakes still tired. The horizon shows a dawn in coming, the Light so distant, an eternal longing. His body aches to stop, his will to run, run for the Light, the Light of salvation. Sandstorms are in his path, but his will, will not be stopped. It will do anything the reach the Light. Suffocated by sand he presses on unyielding. He must prevail. Still, infinite is not even his will. She must save him before it too is overcome by the trials of this, the journey of many journeys. But for now, his will can carry him on. It must. |
