My rant about what happened to my hometown of Harrisburg,Il.
I wake up. Something does not seem right.
This happens a lot. But usually it is brushed off by an alarm clock and a scream from my mother to get the hell up or you're going to be late.
But nothing goes off. Because little do I know there is no power.
Little do I know there is no mini mall next to the super Wal-Mart that is not two miles from my home. Not any more.
Little do I know there are a hundred injured.
Little do I know there are six people dead.
My mom wakes me up. She says there's no power but please try to get ready in case there's school.
But Mater, dear, how can I possibly get ready when there is no power?
I curl back under my blankets. Later I get a text from my aunt. There's no power at the school either. No school.
I actually wished for that last night because I heard there was going to be heavy storms and it could very well be a possibility.
I can be so,so selfish.
My mom calls my aunt, just to make sure. That's when she hears it. No strip mall, no FS gas station, and hundreds of homes, gone.
Flattened.
When you're sixteen, seeing what used to be your hometown turned into a pile of rubble, can be devestating.
Please pray for Harrisburg,Il.
