A bust out from Eastham for revenge.

You probably read Bonnie's Lament yesterday.  Today good ol Clyde tells his story. (1)

Ma and pa gave up farming and moved to Dallas when I was eleven.  All we had was a wagon to get there, so we lived under it.

Us boys tried to help.  One time, my brother and I got caught with stolen turkeys.  Ma was real upset.

"You're going to ruin everything," she cried.

We tried working.  Sometimes, a job would last a few days, but wasn't enough.  We still needed an occasional safe cracking, store robbery, or stolen car to get by.

The dumb cops got lucky; busted me twice in a row.  The judge sent me to the Eastham Prison Farm.  Nineteen years old when they walked me into the place.

The screws put me in with an ape.  For a year, he used me as his plaything.  Finally bashed his brains in with a piece of pipe.  Swore I'd take those Texas screws down.

Got out in 2 1/2 years.  Felt like I'd aged 15.  Put together a tough bunch.  Doing pretty good with the banks and the stores.  Even better after I met Bonnie.

She took your breath away.  And smart.  Much smarter then dumb old Clyde.  She writes poetry.

Can't remember all the stores with shopkeepers that hung on too long.  Nor the "badges" that got in the way.  None of them stood up to my BAR.

Busted three out of Eastham.  Only one bull bought it, but I sure rubbed their noses in it.  Revenge is sweet.

Now we're gonna try Louisiana for a while.  Headed to Bienville Parish, to lie low.  We'll be back though, never worry about that.
