Work in progress about girl and her secret desire of obtaining the unattainable. |
For a person who is usually crazy looking, I can say today he doesn't look half bad. Her thoughts were hers and she was happy it was that way. She didn't want anybody to know she was crushing on him, especially him. Every day she would wait for her friends near the gazebo and every day she would see him getting out of his beat-up car. Sometimes she even felt bad for him, but that was a silly feeling, since she didn;t even drive at all. At least he had the means to get to and from school by himslef. Pathetically, she would always get to school in her mothe's '89 Toyota station wagon, mother driving of course. Somehow, the thought of driving always scared her so she didn't even think of learning. As he walked past her, she noticed he was a little more somber today than other days. He was always somber, but today was even worse. She wondered what had happened for him to be so sad. Her thoughts were interrupted when her first friend arrived. Hey, you! the friend yelled. Flinching at her friend's hgih pitched tone she turned around and saw her walking towards the little reunion point. It was a little mound of dirt covered with grass, shaded by a thick tree branch that made her nervous. That thing was straight out creepy, like something was lurking in there. But she didn;'t want to be mocked by her friends so she kept quiet. How's everything with your mom today? Any good morning fights? How about your brother? Is he in town this week? When is he coming back? Well, of course she was asking about her brother, no secret crush there. At least her friend was honest. not like her. What a horrible friend she was. Putting those thoughts aside, she told her friend: He is doing well and no, he is not home this week and probably won't be coming back in the next few weeks since he started dating this girl and he barely comes home anymore. She noticed her friend's shoulders sagging a little bit but at least she wasn;t going ot be asking for her brother in a couple of weeks again. She didn;t want her friend hurt, besides her brother was a good 10 yrs older and a player. She was better off. Well, that's ok, I can wait until he gets tired of her. I'm not getting too old any time soon., she said happily. So how about you? And where are the others? she asked looking around to see if her other friends were anywhere near so she could stop the daily morning interrogation. I don't know where they are but let me start by telling you that Robbie called me last night....Ah great, why did I even ask. Please kill me now before I hear one more giggle about Robbie and his oh-so-cute lines. Nod and smile...so he said....keep smiling...then I said...keep nodding...and then...why does this have to be so grueling?! This was one of her best friends and she wanted her to shut up. Where are the other ones? Oh my god, Denise, can't you leave Pat alone? Look at her face of utter desperation, what in the world are you telling her? And finally Kay showed up. What do you mean? I was only telling her about last nigh't's call from Robbie. Ah, crap. Seriously, Dee, those stories make anyone want to jump out a moving car at 140 miles. Denise looked upset by Kayla's comment but disregarded her. She turned her back on her and started talking again. You don't rea |
