Santa is tired and needs a break. His new elf assistant wants to set him up a holiday.
[Introduction]
Santa is tired of working all year making toys for good little boys and girls. Duende, the new elf who has just joined Santa and his workshop, notices his new boss is tired and grumpy. An idea forms in the young elf's mind to send Santa on a holiday way down south to his native home. Duende would be happy to take over Santa's special deliveries on Christmas Eve while the Big boss relaxed under a coconut tree.
A few hilarious mishaps occur along the way. First, Duende loses control of the reindeer and they refuse to fly. A whole shipment of hopping toy bunnies are let loose in the Christmas workshop and the Cry-and-Tinkle Dolls won't stop crying and tinkling. Worst of all, the other elves have decided to go on their own holiday and have disappeared two days before Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, Santa Clause is anything but relaxed. Duende forgot to tell Santa that his 6 brothers formed a Mariachi Band. Panicking, they enlist Santa into the band when one of them fell sick. Now he must play the guitar and sing at a Christmas party at the presidential palace Christmas Eve night. Santa can't carry a tune or play the guitar!
