At one time a town could celebrate Christmas without any complaints.
The people came from all around
to see the lovely sight.
The decorations of the town
were sparkling in the night.

The city placed a Christmas scene
inside a cozy park.
The bulbs reflected off the lake;
the ice shone in the dark.

Some strands of light all glistening white
displayed a distant glare;
like icicles with frosty glows
they dangled in the air.

The children from the neighborhood
brought wreaths made out of pine,
then hung them up beside the lights
with tiny bits of twine.

The evergreens were dressed alike
with ornaments of gold.
The berries of the frozen shrubs
were dancing in the cold.

With rosy cheeks, the children played
and tumbled in the snow.
As cameras flashed at darling dears,
the wind began to blow.

The folks in town rehearsed a song
of angels heard on high,
then looked to see the brightest light
that dangled in the sky.

The people stopped and gathered round
to view a figurine.
A star was shining down upon
a Savior's manger scene.
