Lyric poem to song called Smile for the Camera by one of my favorite artists Point Dexter |
Deep in the land of my conscious inner thought Lies a place of refuge for emotion and art But my muse is gone; the pain is on its way The valley is empty, the passion has strayed I searched but she’s gone absent beyond the walls Of the castle (I) built for us both to belong Have you seen her, a woman with eyes of green and grey, More piercing then staring at the sun of summer day Her hair is bright, lustrous and red Cascading like a river right down through its bed And her laughter would bring light into any room If you heard it you’d know she’d be forever true I take a step back, no you couldn’t tell me, Where to find the girl who inspired my world So this journey continues, however much I’m blue (blew) Like a candle snuffed at dawn I flicker and then adieu (Break) I’m near death, crawling and bereft Of anybody who could possibly bridge this cleft In my heart, in my soul – the rivers run dry No rain supplied, all hope Shanghaied Every step: pain, needles in the brain The blood in my veins leaking out to stain The footsteps that I leave behind Pressed in (to) the ground like dreams denied But this gift is flawed, the one that God gave me Write with his right and with the left he gave sight Into madness and death, without love and yes The pain is excruciating But there’s nothing I can do For every path in my mind, leads to you You, who left me, beaten and scared Of ever leaving this sick torture I’ve wed I’m dying, I’m crying, lying on the floor But you’ve turned your back and I am no more |
