Life's Lemons

They say, “When life gives you lemons, go make some ade.”
But, how can I make anything, if I ain't getting paid?
Sure, I got me some lemons, but water ain't free,
And without any sugar who's gonna buy it from me?

So, instead of lemon-aid I decided to make
a big ole batch of fresh lemon cake
I was thinkin' that this, I might be able to do
Ya, I could sell me some cake and eat of it too.

Dang blasted again, I don't got the stuff
Without no sugar or flour, bakin' is tough.
Lemons, that's somthin', but that's all I got;
Them lemons ain't enough to put in my pot!

So I sit and I wish, and I hope and I pray
That tomorrow be better somehow than today,
And them lemons life gives me, I do my best
To eat and live off em, just like the rest.
