An awakening, a memory that crushes and brings you alive at the same time.
SLIPPED AWAY

-by Sabrina B. Hunter

We were far too young and wild

to ever understand

that one kiss

could preface such a sense of complete 'alone'.

How was I

supposed to know

you would fight a war

and never really come home?

I'll never forget the pain in your eyes,

or the empty looks that followed.

I may never forget the things you said to me,

or all the pride I swallowed.

You came back just to leave me alone,

even when you were standing there.

The last time you left was the last time I trusted

enough to wring 'Damage' from 'Care'.

You just...slipped away,

and went wild while I lived our life right next to you.

You slipped away,....

and took something of mine with you, too.
