Today
Today is a day just like any other
So be joyful my friend, slap your brother.
Eat you some good fried chicken
And by nightfall you’ll be wishin’
That you and your girl wouldn’t have been kissin’
When her parents came home.
So now you’re sitting on the porcelain throne,
Asking yourself what went wrong
And the only thing you can think to say
Is this was today
And tomorrow will be better.
Only to find an ugly sweater
hanging from your bed;
A hue kinda like a brownish rust-red.
You take your hand and run it through your hair
And wish at the moment you weren’t there.
You lay down on the bed and try to close your eyes
And wait while this day says its last goodbyes.
Softly to yourself you say some how today was good
And tomorrow will be better-at least it should.
Cuz today is gone forever, and I will never re-track
So I can only move on to tomorrow and never look back.
The night falls, the curtain calls.
You wake up from your mom’s incessant calls
And then you say
Lets get it out the bed
And start on today.
