It's about a guy waiting to get a chance to date a girl he has a crush on.
She is more than amorous,
Her laugh to my ears is a chorus.

I have all this hope that one day we'll be more than friends.
That maybe she'll see everything I find in her, in me,
But at the end of the day I know that there will never be a we.

I'll never advance past the solely stance of being by myself,
To be with her I would give up all my wealth.

All the riches in the world wouldn't compare to the feeling that I get when I'm with her, holding her dear.
We're not even an item and yet I feel heartache whenever she's not near.

I would wait forever and beyond just to be on her mind.

Her image is drilled into my brain,
I see it when I sleep and it drives me insane.

I've told her my feelings before but it doesn't change the way she thinks,
When I'm done pouring my heart and soul out I might need a dozen shrinks.

Inebriation is the only comfort that I have now,
Give me a chance and I'll put a ring on her finger and take every vow.

I once heard that friendship is a gift of the heart,
Even though we aren't together, I hope that our relationship never falls apart.

So I'm staring in the sky praying for a star to shoot by.
I'm waiting for a wish,
I'm hoping that it'll come true,
I'm waiting for a wish,
Girl I'm waiting for you.
