Surrendered to the Enemy

The ash and smoke has settled;
the field before me cleared.
And now that I can see the truth,
it's far worse than I feared.

You laid down your weapon,
in the middle of this fight.
Surrendered to the enemy;
surrendered up your light.

I stood witness to the carnage,
of your imprisoned heart.
All you want is love and peace,
things the world cannot impart.

I don't understand your reasoning,
There's no reason to have failed.
One battle down, far more to go;
so I soldier on though I feel frail.

Because I followed you into this battle,
I would follow you in again.
And I know that if you chose,
this is a battle we would win.
