A letter from a government employee to his friend. Things are not what they seem.
I could have left at anytime. Just back my bags and walked away. That is, before I got in to deep. But now, it's too late, they won't let me leave. I'm not allowed to leave the facility, they say that I know too much. But in reality, I know nothing. I know the wave on top of the water, while an ocean full of unknown and terror dwells beneath. It's too late.

I'm writing this to you, so there will be some record of the horrors at U.C., the place I told you I was starting to work for. You have spoken many times of the corruption in government, but I never knew how deep it went. The things I know could destroy our country but who would believe? It would be the government versus me and no one can stop them. They wouldn't even waste a trial on me, I would just disappear.

Tell people as soon as you see this. They'll look back and remember. Warn them.

Presidents can be impeached, government officials fired, senators kicked from office, generals of an army discharged but all at once? How can you get rid of corruption that runs this deep and is spread this far? A nation of "the people," ignorant, powerless people.

Freedom, power to the people, democracy is all an illusion. It's been played for so long they believe it, no one knows what really happens. The people vote on little things, it keeps them happy, stops a rebellion. They're happy to be ignorant of what really happens. Maybe a rebellion is our only hope to stop this.

People are tortured, slaughtered on a daily basis for no reason. To set an example of what happens when you displease them.

The tests they run on criminals that are believed to have died in imprisonment. I've seen men driven insane and slice their veins open with their nails. I've seen men beat their heads against the wall, over and over, until their skulls are crushed. The "doctors" just sit and watch, take notes, and try it again. The rate of suicide is increasing and they're getting bloodier.

One noteworthy experiment consisted of a man in a padded room. His nails were torn out to prevent him from harming himself. Food and water were injected into him everyday to stop him from starving himself. Nothing was allowed in the room, the possibility of suicide was almost nonexistent.

The man chewed his veins open a week into the experiment.

They joke and say that men are getting smarter. But why? What is the point of this torture? Why drive these men insane? I used to think that they did it for the sick thrill but I know it's deeper. Most of the men are injected with something. They convulse in their sleep, they hallucinate and fight off things that aren't there. They foam and bleed from the mouth, act like an animal with rabies.

I've heard the term of humans acting like an animal, but that can't even describe what happens. Some of their bodies just shut down. No one has lasted even a month once they get started. A few weeks ago, over twenty scientists who were working on a secluded project were locked inside a room while deadly chemicals were released inside with no way out. They were dead within minutes.

Why were they killed? No one here seems to know, not that anyone will talk about it. We pretend ignorance and we're left alone. There are ideas, maybe they planned to go public, or they were taking too long. They say that they're getting closer to whatever they are hoping to find but know one really knows what that is. We fear for our lives, but can't do anything. Just keep our mouths shut and our heads down. This letter is my death wish.

We're kept in the building, but allowed 2 days ever other month out, kept under watch. If you received this then I've managed to shake my guard and beg someone to mail it. If this is not who it was intended for then fuck you. I won't go down without a fight.

Warn the people. I'll die a martyr. Save yourself.
