Romance in secret.
                   "No One Knows"

No one knows
         to look for me in the dark corner,
         to see that I, alone, am there.
I'm always kept in your shadows.
We share our hearts in secret.
We walk and talk only as friends.
No one knows this story;
         no one knows our love is now,
         no one knows our love has always been.

Late summer breezes whisper memories
         of our tender souls when we first met,
         when all the world witnessed the passion.
But now, we stroll down sidewalks in sunlight,
         far away sidewalks, where we often meet.
Only strangers passing by,
         and birds perched on high-lines,
         suggest we are truly lovers visiting there.

We linger along moonlight paths,
         secluded paths at midnight.
Crickets and tree-frogs sing our spirit song
         on chilly autumn nights,
         as we huddle near a cozy campfire.

Until we meet again and again
         in distant places along blue highways,
         there are promises of you and me,
         and no traces left of a loving tryst.
No one knows;
         I reside in your heart,
         and you dwell in mine.
No one knows;
         there within, we hold
         secret treasure troves of love.

No one knows;
         I wait patiently in your heart's corner,
         a lifetime knowing
         there will always be a rendezvous.
No one will ever know
         you continue to beckon my shadow.
Forever, we've meant to be together,
         yet no one is allowed to see.
