I tagged this piece as religious because it contains quite a few allusions related to religion. Ask if you want me to explain "Purity" in depth. I had fun writing this piece but it will not be as fun to read it if the tiny moving parts are not clear.
Purity
There is no house for damsels at midnight.
They part grasses at their waists in wide search.
Songbirds are silent,
The owls watching,
Even the sun is disdainful of their nightly walk,
So He turns away and lets absence take its toll.
“Where are you going, young women?” the moon calls,
“Out here in such cold, you know best you are homeless.
But join with the sea, like sand, and I will make you free.
With my gravity I will sway you away from Earth, from foolish toils,
From your worldly prey,
So come and I will pull you to me
Like the waves as they shine
With my touch and my smile.
Inside I am hollow,
Inanimate,
Wanting of soul,
But in me you can rest from the dark of the world.
Surrounded by my borrowed light, you will be safe.”
