This I Believe: True Love

This I Believe Statement

Although I have grown up in a very loving family, one that has stayed together through the years and never given up on each other, I think of how lucky I am. I grew up being blessed with something that many people do not get to feel in their lifetimes, and that is a love that stays strong. Because of this love, I have been brought up to love others and look out for the best interests of everyone, instead of just myself. It is something that I have held close to me and tried to pass on to others, it is the reason why I attempt to help everyone and put a smile on their face because of how I grew up during my life.
The thing that changed my life was the fact that when I came to UW-Parkside, I started to attend the Christian organizations on campus and one in particular, Campus Crusade for Christ, was one that I am still a leader of today. My sophomore year, I decided to go to the winter conference where I accepted Jesus. Now for those who do not believe, it means nothing, but to me it was a life changing moment and it was because of that decision why I live my life the way I do now. The thing that makes this reality important in this essay is because, again what we believe, is that God sent his one and only son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. He was not just hung on the cross though, he loved us so much, that he was whipped with a lead tipped whip, beaten with rods, had a crown of thorns thrust on his head, mocked, spat on, had to carry the cross all the way to the hill where he would be nailed to it, and then he was finally stabbed in the side. That, to me, is absolutely true love. And it was because of this, that I was finally able to see what a love forever strong contains of, this I believe.
