To go or to stay. (Form: Frost Inspired Quatrains)
Decisions

"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood."
I hear the words of Frost's mournful voice.
I think of my life, both the bad and the good,
and how I'm facing a similar choice.

Love's fading light reveals the starkness
as I view the landscape of my heart.
Somehow I've been pulled into the darkness;
I've lost the light that drew me at the start.

In the dark emptiness that I find there,
I see the ghosts of happiness that I've lost.
Their warm echoes tell me I still care.
Should I stay? What would be the cost?

We've lost our way since we first set out.
Our shared dreams weren't solid – just foam.
We now wander a forest filled with doubt
and realize that there's no way back home.

Do I continue along the well trodden path
and follow the footsteps of many before?
Do I stay with someone who's filled with wrath
and honor vows that now taste of rancor?

Or do I choose the path "less traveled by"
and seek out my own inner vision?
I stare at the choices and, lost in a sigh,
I fade to black through my own indecision.
