Wrote this late at night, couldn't sleep, was thinking about life and its many lies...
Many things may hide behind a smile
The broken heart of a girl, a wounded victim who's blood stains the battlefield of love
The sad story of an innocent child, his innocence blemished with false protection and dirty lies
The truth behind the old man's gait, and the tear tracks on an old woman's face
The song flowing out of a hoarse croak, of which the reasons remain unknown
Many things may hide behind a smile
This illusive storyteller, weaving tales of beauty and hope
Illuminating the world with flashes of light against white
Breaking a barrier that exists between those who suffer
And those who don't understand
Many things may hide behind a smile
A mirror which reflects both ways
Through the eyes of the spectator
And through those of the bearer
The outside sees a beaming ray of eternal sunshine
A glimpse of euphoria that seems to mingle with the leaves
The inside sees the dishonesty, the neverending charade
However, does a smile truly hide?
Or does it act as a curtain
A glass window
Where all is to be seen, but not touched
Is that not preferred? To know, but not to act?
