Then Alex heard it, the sound of eight, long, hairy, pointy legs.
      Chapter 4: Incectis Maximus

The trio turned the corner and spotted a car. Alex and his crew hopped in and started it up.

“Left the keys in it, what idiots!” said Alex happily as they drove away.

Meanwhile , the mayor schemed in his office thinking on a way to send Alex to prison or kill him, or both. Then an idea snuck into his head.

“Send out Isectis Maximus!” said the evil mayor.

“Right away sir!” replied his just-as-evil advisor.

Right on the outskirts of town the threesome decided to rest. They stopped right outside of a house that was very old and creaky inside.

“Max? Max where are you?” Shouted Alex worried.

Bennie closed the door slowly and they set up camp inside. There were cobwebs and spiders in the rickety old house.

“Guess he moved” said Alex calmly.

“Hey Bennie play us a song!” shouted Alex across the room.

“Okay,” said Bennie picking up a guitar.

“Now for some food,” said Alex breaking out a can opener and a can of baked beans and franks.

In about 30 minutes or so everyone was asleep, except for Alex who was extremely afraid of spiders.

Then he heard it, the rapid chitterling of eight long, hairy, pointy legs that he had feared for as long as he could remember.

“No, It can’t be! Everyone get up quick! It’s...” as he turned his gaze to his partner’s sleeping bags they were gone.

“This can’t be happening to me,” Alex said almost getting ready to sob.

Alex heard a yell for help and he shot up immediately, picked up the flashlight and the sword then headed in that direction.

Before he would enter a room he would inspect it thoroughly in every way, and in all the rooms he had been in a few of them had white pods in them. He cut one open out of curiosity and found that it was a human corpse, dead and drained of its blood. In the next room he went face- to-face with his fears. The large spider was 6 ft. tall and 11 ft. wide and was wrapping up his friends.

“Stop it you disgusting insect!” yelled Alex at the huge beast. The spider turned 180 degrees and was now facing him, it replied with a defining screech.

It was 6:45 in the morning and Alex stood bravely before the monster that was trying to murder his friends.

“Time for you to die fiend!” shouted Alex charging at it.

Charging at it wasn’t the best idea in the world, because as he cut one of its legs off  it hit him with the other front leg in the chest. The leg grew back instantly, for the spider was not just any giant arachnid, it was the legendary spider Incectis Maximus. It shook what looked like to Alex to be a venom sack, and about 50 tarantula sized spiders plopped on to the floor, scurried over to Alex and started to bite has ankles.

“Ahhhh!” screamed Alex as Bennie tried to get out of his silky prison.

Bennie had cut himself free with his cat-like claws. He had no trouble at all getting  Mariana free.

“Can you cast any painful spells?”  asked Bennie and the princess nodded her head.

“Only a fireball,” she said

“That’s perfect.” said Bennie jumping into battle.

First Bennie took care of the spiders at Alex’s ankles and then went after the big one. His first move was to cartwheel at it, then punch it from the top side . He landed on the other side of the spider by its venom sack.

“Duck!” yelled the princess casting a fireball in Bennie’s direction.

It hit smack on the thorax, setting it on fire. After a few seconds its venom sack fell off, and the spider lay crippled on the floor.  Alex set in for the killing blow, right through the top of its head. It was finished, down for the count, dead.

“Bennie, tell me what symbol it has on its thing that fell off,” said Alex looking at the bites on his ankles.

“A toilet and a sink,” said Bennie wondering why he asked.

“Oh no, that means that it gave me a deadly infection,” Alex worried.

“I will be dead in a about a minute,” said Alex beckoning Bennie for his final words.

Alex hit the floor dead.

“No!” said Mariana rushing over to his dead body beginning to cry over it.

A large grin appeared on Alex’s face.

“Gotcha!” said Alex laughing.

“What!?” said the princess turning as red as a ripe tomato.

“Well what did you think a toilet meant?”  said Alex as if she didn’t get the joke.

“Well what it does mean is either extreme diarrhea or nausea”, said Alex, also turning a bit red himself.

“If you will excuse me for a moment,” said Alex standing up and running into the next room.

“When he comes back I’m going to kill him,” said Mariana thinking about the way she was going to torture him.

“What do you think Bennie? Pain or embarrassment?” said the princess still scheming.

“He is used to pain, so embarrassment for sure,” said Bennie since he knew his brother so well.

“Then this is the plan,” said Mariana drawing Bennie closer.

When Alex came back to the room, he found that nobody was there. He also saw Bennie go into the next room.

“Alex, are you in  love with the princess?” asked Bennie from the dark room.

“Well maybe, I’m not really sure,” said Alex scratching the back of his neck.

“The real question is, is she in love with me?” said Alex catching on to their plan.

“She was done some weird stuff. When we first met she didn’t  want me to leave,” said Alex aware of what the princess was trying to do.

“Then there was the wanting to be carried thing, and the crying over my dead body, I don’t know what will happen next!” said Alex, spotting the princess standing up.

“Your plan really backfired didn’t it?” said Alex looking at the princess and Bennie.

Alex headed to the back door looking for a hint to where his cousin Max could have gone.

“Found you!” said Alex looking at the note on the back door.

“Gone to the coast!?” said Alex packing up the sleeping bags.

“Everyone in the car!” shouted Alex as he started it up.

They were on their way to the ice-cream coast.
