A visit to a neighborhood park.
The sun is such a loyal friend,
he still comes by this spot each day
the way he has for countless years,
to watch the trees and flowers play.

He still tries sneaking up on them—
a playful peek above the trees.
Sometimes he hides behind a cloud
but everybody always sees.

I wonder if he too recalls
the childhood hours of this park,
when boys and girls would come to laugh
and stay and play till nearly dark.

Perhaps he will remember me,
despite the passing of the time
since mom and dad would bring me here
to watch me run and play and climb.

The kids don't come here anymore.
I'm sure. I stop by every day.
The sun and I sneak in at dawn
To watch the trees and flowers play.
